After watching a replay of the Lesnar/Herring fight. I am convinced Brock needs to get someone in his camp to help him out with his submissions. While he is as quick as a cat, has freakish power in those canned hams that he calls fists, he still doesn't have a clue about how to submit someone. There were countless occasions in the Herring fight where Heath readily gave Brock his back. Brock just sat there and rode Herring like in a college wrestling match. Brock was passing Herrings gaurd with ease and getting a full mount a number of times to unleash his ground and pound. Each time Herring would roll over to his knees giving Brock ample oppurtunity to sink in a read naked choke. Brock though just kept trying to throw punches from weird angles and landing punishing knees. This brings to mind one question for me about the whole match. Did Brock intentionally not go for the submission just so he could pound on Herring more or does he just not know anything about submissions? After the pre-match comments from Herring about Lesnar not belonging in the Octagon with him I think that personally Brock just wanted to beat on him. This is exactly what he did for most of the 15 minutes of the fight. Look at the beginning of the fight after the initial punch which probably would have finished at least 50% of the other heavies in the division Brock had control of Herrings head and could have easily choked Herring out right there with the guillitine choke, but he didn't. So Brock must either need far more training on his submissions or he took the comments personally and he was trying to beat respect out of Heath Herring. I think he deffinatly did the second. I am sure when Herring woke up on Sunday morning he had far more respect than he had Saturday night before the fight. Brock is about a year and a half to two years away from really being an unstoppable force in MMA in my opinion.
