Shanahan Guarantees Playoffs? | Fire Mike Shanahan Now Group's Blog

A couple of days ago during a sports talk radio interview, Mike Shanahan said that the Broncos will not miss the playoffs for a third straight year! One of the announcers asked Shanahan if he was making a "Guarantee"? Mike responded with it sure sounds like a guarantee don't it? Well, after watching the first preseason game of the year and the Broncos loss to the Texans. I wonder if Mike will take back his gurantee or if he thinks that the Broncos will still make the playoffs? I believe that Mike Shanahan believes that he's got a playoff contender, but THE most confusing part is that Mike has painted himself into a corner! What happens if the Broncos fail to reach the playoffs for a third straight year? Either Pat Bowlen will have to make a change at "Coach" or Mike will be forced to resign after another embarrasing season. Either way the team is heading for a big change at the end of this season, Bronco fans have been torn in half for much too long. It's time to bring both camps together, The Shanahaters and the Shanalovers-no matter what! This team needs a Coach/General Manager that the whole Rocky Mountain region and beyond can rally around. What do you guys think?

Love him or hate him, Shanny will be back next year. I happen to like him, but I can understand why people don't like him, and I'm no Shanny apologist. However, this team is very young, and they will be back to contending in the AFC West in the next 2 years. What was he supposed to say? This team sucks? Sorry, but that wouldn't fly at all. He'd be getting attacked for that, too. I don't know that they will make the playoffs, but I happen to think that 10 wins and the Wild Card is a very real possibility.

wtnelson, I predicted that they would go 10-6 and get in as a wildcard. I still think they can win more games than they will lose,but they're gonna need alot of breaks for that to happen...

Will do, I think I missed that one. I love reading your blog. Honestly, though, I'm not a Shanny apologist, but I just hope that everyone that hates him gives the guy some credit when the Broncos win the division in the next couple of years.
