I todays competition China retook the medal lead after winning more medals in diving, gymnastics and a surprising 1-2 finish in a swimming event as well. USA only scored one bronze medal in a swimming relay in primetime but the womens softball and volleyball teams both scored wins to keep on advancing towards gold.
China did do very well and are now edging the USA in medal count by one single medal so far in the Olympics. They won the 200M butterfly and also scored a silver in the event as well. They really are known to be a swimming weakness but becuase of project 119 they seemed to become stronger in the event. Phelps had an off night but will swiom the 200IM tomorrow night as well.
The gymnastics for China was flawless as well. Yang Wei won the gold all around title and they held off the USA and he ended off his Olympic career (probable) with a slam victory scoring 2 16's on the vault and high bars. Tommorow will be the long awaited womens finals and will include two USA favorites in Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin.
Also the mens volleyball team has yet another match to rebound towards gold. Stay tuned at 8pm on NBC.
