As an Atlanta Braves fan, I may be a bit biased but we (I always refer to my team as if I'm a member of it) need to be buyers at the trade deadline. We need another bat in the lineup either in left field or at first base. I like Matt Diaz and Willy Harris but we need more run production from left field. Maybe a trade for Ken Griffey Jr. or Adam Dunn or Jermaine Dye. If we were to go first base (Thorman needs more time in AAA) I think a guy like Mark Tiexera (sp?) would be a good fit. It's also possible to get somebody who doesnt play first base and then move him there because lets be honest, it doesnt take a great athlete to catch a ball and step on first.
Another thing we need is a pitcher. Right now we have Smoltz, Hudson, James, Davies, and....who? Buddy Carlisle? Lance Cormier? We need another pitcher. Mark Buerhle is out there and the Mets are supposedly interested. We cannot let the Mets get the pitcher they need in order to officially bury us. Or if we do let the Mets snatch away Buerhle we need to get someone to counter it...dare I say, Dontrelle Willis? That's not likely though because who would want to trade their best pitcher to a division rival? Either way the Braves cant be quiet at the deadline.

One of the big rumors is Teixeira to the Braves, at least down here it is. He would be a great fit there. I got to Atlanta a few years ago and saw a game. Loved it.
That said, I think it will cost the Braves heavily. I'm talking Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Chuck James and another prospect (Yunel Escobar?). But if anyone has the balls to pull it off, it's Schuerholz.
