Roberto Lopez has been on a tear this season. This 22 year old is playing for The Angles rookie league team and has been playing better then anyone else. Hitting .394 with 10 homeruns and 49 rbis Roberto has the potential to be a Chase Utley type of player. Anyway Lopez hit a two run homer and scored twice in a 6-1 win against the Helena Brewers. This year I have had a cahnce to watch this guy play against my hometown Minor League team Blueclaws and let me tell ya he is a hall of famer in the making. Hes a solid fielder with ok speed but is the best hitting player ive seen since Ryan Howard played for the Blueclaws a few years back. Anyway he will be seeing action in LA soon and watch out, the Orem Owls will win 20 games in a row real soon.
In other news the Orioles have just signed there top pick Brian Matusz for a contract worth $3.2 million. Brian who pitched for San Diego University led the nation with 141 strikouts and had a 1.71 era, in route to becoming West Cost Conference player of the year and will be placed on the 40 man roster. Brian has all the tools to become a good pitcher and should be in the majors by the end of next year if the Orioles pitching problems continue
