I'm gonna do this pretty much the same way I did with the recap of the San Diego series. This was a relatively tough series for the Brewers..so let's get into it...
8/15- The game started off with a pretty big band when Gabe Kapler hit a 2 run shot off of Chad Billingsley. After that..the game went pretty much downhill for the Brewers. Manny Parra never really got comfortable. Parra only lasted 5 2/3 innings. Looking at the game wrap up on brewers.com I thought Manny pitched much worse than he actually did. It doesn't mean that he pitched well, I just thought the start was much worse.
8/16- What a game this was. Dave Bush quietly put together another relatively solid start, of 7 solid innings. But, I'll be honest, there were other much more important parts to this game. Such as 3 sparkling catches by all 3 Brewers out fielders. Gabe Kapler's being the most important. Lost in this game, in my opinion, is the important fact that Ryan Braun was used in a pitch hitters role and then also came in on a double switch for Kapler. But, the real hero and almost zero of this game was JJ Hardy. First he hit a home run to tie up the game. And then later on he made an almost critical error. But, made up for it with the game winning hit in the 10th. This was a huge win.
8/17- This was a huge game for many reasons. First off with a win today we could have won the series. Secondly and just as important was Ryan Braun being back in the starting lineup. The Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw absolutely dominated us for 6 innings...Jeff Suppan who also pitched 6 innings did a less than stellar job. The turning point of the game is when the bullpens came into the picture. It all started off with Rickie Weeks hurting himself and Ned needing to bring in Ray Durham. Ryan Braun came threw big time hitting a 2-run home run tieing up the game at 5. Unfortunately in the bottom of the 9th Carlos Villanueva gave up a walk-off 2-run homer.
