How is Bull Riding not an Olympic sport while all of these Handball, Field Hockey, Bad Mitten, Equestrian, Sailing, ect are shown on the Olympic schedule?
The USA would not dominate like many would think, the greatest bull rider of all time is Brazilian, and rodeo is popular in North America, Central America, South America, Austrailia, and many parts of Europe and Asia.
Every country outside of the desert regions of the world have a good supply of bulls that can be used to train, so every country besides those in Africa and maybe the far East and Scandanavia would all have an equal opportunity to train, and compete well.
This kind of pisses me of as Bull Riding is my favorite sport, and I don't follow the Olympics like I should, I only watch the events that interests me, but I would care A LOT more if they included Bull Riding in the games.

one reason that comes to my mind is that if it were an olympic sport then the IOC would probably get a lot of heat from animal rights activists due to the way that the flank strap is used.

Screw Peta, they kill more dogas and cats each year than pounds, and you have equestrian events which are just as cruel to the horse as bull riding is to the bull.
The rider usually gets more punishment in bull riding than the bull.

Good blog. If synchronized swimming is an Olympic sport, then bull riding should definitely be in.

Outlaw, great blog and which style would be used if bull-riding was to become an Olympic sport. Doesn't really matter. Lets not forget about barrel racing for the ladies. I don't know if its a world sport like bull-riding and it would be better than pin pong and those wimpy games that are played.
