No Colt David in top ten kickers, He led the nation in scoring last season! Surely you must of forgot

I have to put either Ricky Jean-Francis or Tyson Jackson in D-linemen

Rico Mccoy could be in the top 5 in LB's

But besides that great blog!

August 19, 2008  02:35 PM ET

Jarrett Dillard and Darius Heyward-Bey at WR

August 19, 2008  02:42 PM ET

LSU wanting some LSU love shocker....

Good stuff, ten days and counting til the mighty penguins come calling

August 19, 2008  02:49 PM ET

I added Colt David, McCoy, I feel road Jerod Mayo's coattails to a good season last year, he is good, but not that good. Ricky Jean-Francois, needs to prove to me he can do it over a long period of time, and Tyson Jackson was very average last year, despite having an enormous around of talent surrounding him, that should have made him a super star.

Heyward Bey only had 781 yards receiving, and 3 scores, Dillard was #11 on my list, and he took a step back last year in myopinion

August 19, 2008  03:00 PM ET

Scarlett Im hearing good things about Herron and Sanzenbacher, hopefully they can make your list soon...

August 19, 2008  03:44 PM ET

Colt David is in there LSU, don't scroll so fast. You're right about the Defense Tackles though. Safety could consider Chad Jones as well. If you don't know the name fella's get used to hearing it. He's expected to be better than LeRon Landry and Craig Steltz.

August 19, 2008  04:38 PM ET

The same Steltz that got smoked by Beanie even when he had the angle?

J/K!

August 19, 2008  04:59 PM ET

Beanie wells will win the Heisman this year but yes this is the same Steltz that was on the BCS National Championship team last year. Ya know, the SECOND SEC team to beat OSU. Kidding as well. He hits like Steltz and has the anticipation and speed of Landry.

August 19, 2008  06:19 PM ET

First off, this list is not very impressive to me. Actually, most of the comments listed by you clowns isn't very impressive.

When you make a list MAKE YOUR OWN LIST. Don't list the top players all the so-called experts at SI.com and ESPN.com pick.

Chris Wells as top rusher? Really? Jesus, no one else on the planet has that one; you're going waaaay out on a limb with that.

Laurinaitis as top inside linebacker? Say it aint so!

Crabtree as top receiver? Predictability, thy name is Brown-Noser.

Yes, Cen LA Tiger, I agree that Chris Wells will win the Heisman Trophy. Because, after all, all you have to do at Ohio State is be able to actually lift a football, and you pretty much are guaranteed the Heisman Trophy. I have a few concrete examples to support this claim.

For starters, Ohio State has six different Heisman Trophy winners. And, correct me if I'm wrong here---the Heisman is supposed to be given to the best all-around football player in the country, right? I think we all agree on that part.

Les Horvath, OSU's 1st Heisman winner, had an NFL career that saw him rush for 221 yards. 221 YARDS his entire career. If he was the best player in the nation that year I'd hate to see the 50th best.

Vic Janowicz had an NFL career that included 410 yards total in the pros. Mind-blowing stats, considering his career in the NFL was almost twice as productive as Horvath's. But for THE Ohio State University, I guess they aim low and root for the best. By the way, Janoeicz also attempted to throw six times. Completed none.

Howard Cassidy? He did better than the first two. His NFL career lasted nine years, and he scored 27 touchdowns. Three touchdowns a year.

Archie Griffin? Nice try. The only guy to ever win the Heisman twice---which tells me he's the greatest offensive player this country ever produced. He played nine years in the NFL. And guess what? He started in nine games. That's not too shabby, eh? Starting one game per year.

Eddie George was a very good player, and the jury is still out on Troy Smith

My point is, is that it doesn't matter how good Beanie Wells does this year, as long as he runs for a few touchdowns, he'll win the Heisman. The coveted trophy is generally given to those on the east coast or the midwest, and then they get in the pros and flop. Which to me, is very, very entertaining.

Personally, I think they should go ahead and give Wells the trophy today. That way we as fans don't have to sit through the boring interviews and commercial advertisement in December.

What opinions that I have on my list are wrong, and if so tell me who I should put in there and why, I am not angry, just would like some feedback as to why it is so bad.
And I don't her ESPN touting Gerald McRath, and Vince Oghobaase, or Sean Weatherspoon, or Patrick Chung. All players I had in my top 2, that I would be stunned if any one else felt the same way, because quite frankly they are controversial picks.

August 19, 2008  10:34 PM ET

Great job, man. as always

August 19, 2008  11:30 PM ET

why the hatred for OSU heisman winners?

August 20, 2008  01:22 PM ET

SH has spoken.......Blam!

August 20, 2008  09:01 PM ET

McCoy should be higher rated. "rode Mayos' coat tail"? Check the film,McCoy led the team in tackles the first 6 games of the 13.
He also played weakside,if anything,he cleanedup other folks misses. 106 tackles in the SEC baby!
