According to reports, French versatile defender Mikael Silvestre has been transferred to Arsenal on a two year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Silvestre pursues ex-Gunner Ljungberg
Silvestre has been with Manchester United since 1999 and made 361 appearances for the Red Devils
Mikael said on signing for the Gunners: "I've spent a large part of my career at United, the last nine years, and I'll remember that time fondly but feel I'm ready for a new challenge. Arsenal is known for playing technical and skilful football, and has a young but experienced squad. I'm really excited about this next stage of my career, hopefully playing my part in helping the Club to new successes."
Silvestre will wear the shirt number 18.
Silvestre had previously been linked to Ligue 1 teams PSG and Bordeaux.
Regardless of the fee, I think Sir Alex was right to let Silvestre go as he had become nothing more than a fringe player, barred by Evra on the left and Ferdinand and Vidic in the heart of the defense.
Silvestre has given a lot to the Red Devils over the past 9 years and has always acted as a true professional.
By freeing his spot and his significant wage, Sir Alex is making room for a possible future acquisition in this summer transfer window or in the winter transfer window.
Good move for both teams
