The big news in fact happened in the birds nest as Jamiaca's Usain "Lightning" Bolt sweeped away the competition en route to his second gold medal of the Olympics and his second world record as well. He got a 19.31 and broke the world record by 1/100 of a second from the previous 19.32. He also has a shot at triple gold in the 4x100 meter relay which is coming up soon.
Also anoter headline from yesterday night was the womens beach volleyball gold medal match where USA was to take on China in pouring down rain. The match went on and it was back and forth throughout the first set until in the end Kerry Walsh's net skills and Misty May-Treanor's speed and defense outran the Chinese women to win straight sets 21-18 and win the gold. They celebrated and in the end the ritual for Treanor continiued as she spread ashes of her mother over the court as well.
Coming up tonight will be more track and field events along with some other medal team game matches and some more tapes.
