Top 9 Games of the Past Decade
#1.Texas 41, USC 38, 2006 National Title
Maybe the most crazy and impressive game I have ever seen. Vince Young literally put a team on his back running for 267 yards, passing for 200, running for 3 TD's, including the epic 4th down game winning TD. It had it all, a team in USC that was already being touted as the best team ever, maybe the greatest college player ever in Vince Young, a pair of Heisman winners in Matt Leinart, and Reggie Bush, future NFL'ers in Jamal Charles, Limas Sweed, Michael Huff, Dwayne Jarrett, LenDale White, Sedrick Ellis, Keith Rivers, and Sam Baker. It had epic plays such as the 4th down stop of LenDale White, and the fumble by Regie Bush. Simply put, this may have been the greatest game of all time.
#2 Ohio State 31, Miami 24, 2003 National Title
Ohio State was given no chance in this game, Miami came into this game with 31 straight wins, while OSU was a team lucky to get into the title, winning numerous close games behind a shutdown "D" and mistake free offense led by smart QB Craig Krenzel, and a troubled Frosh RB. Miami came out and took a lead, but fell behind then tied the game and sent it to OT, with Ohio State winning in OT. This game had it all classic plays like Sean Taylor's interception, then being stripped by Mo Clarett. What about The classic call at the end of the first overtime, with a late flag coming out that allowed OSU to still have a chance. While controversial, it has been validated and was named one of the 18 best calls of all time, by Ref magazine, and the sports ref club. Miami ended up driving to the 4 but on 4th down Dorsey was hit and threw it up for prayer. This game may have been full of NFL players, but it marked the start of an era of dominance for Ohio State.
#3. Boise State 43, Oklahoma 42, 2007 Fiesta Bowl
Maybe the most crazy game ever. A powerhouse team in OU against a no one mid-major team in Boise State, but Boise had the lead late, and was driving then QB Jared Zabransky threw a pick 6, which cost BSU the lead then Boise needed a TD and got one on a crazy, and I mean crazy hook and ladder play for the tie. Then in OT Boise tied it up with a WR pass on fourth down. Then despite only needing an extra point to tie, the Broncoes went for 2 running a statue of ladder play. Then RB Ian Johnson went and proposed to his girlfriend. Simply the most dramatic crazy game I had personally ever seen, and it proved that mid-majors could compete with anyone.
#4. USC 34, Notre Dame 31, 2005
The most impressive regular season game of all time, and add to that the fact itwas a rivalry and it was madness. This was according to everyone the only test USC would have before the national title. A great game, that had stars everywhere, and great plays. This was Brady Quinn's, breakout game a gritty performance that really established him on a National stage. Notre Dame took a 31-28 lead and it appeared the game was going to be a win, then the crazy last drive occured. On there own 26 USC had a 4th and 9 and Matt Leinart found star WR Dwayne Jarrett for a 61 yard gain. Then with 10 seconds left Matt Leinart scrambled toward the endzone. He then fumbled the ball out of bounds . The clock then ran down to zero and it appeared that Notre Dame won. Then the ref's changed the call and put 3 seconds on the clock. Despite an easy field goal that would tie the game SC went for it and it appeared Leinart was stuffed, but Reggie Bush used the "Reggie Push" to push Matt Leinart into the endzone, and SC won a classic.
#5. Appalachian State 34, Michigan 32, 2007
The biggest upset off all time. Appy State came into the game as a huge underdog to a top 5 national title contender in Michigan. The Big Blue struggled throughout the game and dual threat QB Armanti Edwards kept Appy State in the game, but everyone expected Michigan to pull away. Then cam the classic end Michigan pulled away behind Mike Hart, but Appy Stae did not quit getting a TD, and then a Field Goal to take the lead, but then their was more. Michigan moved te ball to give them a pretty easy field goal, but it was blocked and appy State shocked the world, in a game that everyone in The Shoe stayed after the game to watch.
#6. Ohio State 42, Michigan 39, 2006
Billed as the game of the century, the winner would be heading to the national title. A pair of heisman contenders in Troy Smith, the 2 best teams, 2 best defenses, and the best rivalry in the game set the stage. Bo Schembechler had died the day before so more fuel had been added. The score was not as indicitave as the game, as OSU made stupid mistake like botching snaps to keep Michigan in the game, and Troy Smith had a hesiman performance, in one of the most crazy atmosperes in college football.
#7. LSU 33, Kentucky 30, 2003
Known as the bluegrass miracle, with one of the best finishes in college football history. Kentucky took the lead and it appeared that Kentucky would get a big win for the program. In fact a gatorade shower was given to the Kentucky head coach. Then All amdness ensued. On their own 26 with 2 seconds left the Tigers appeared dead, and fans started to rush the field. Well LSU chicked it up and prayed, but the ball was tipped by numerous players and somehow ended in LSU wideout Devery Henderson's hand at ended up scoring to win.
#8. Miami 27, Florida State 24, 2000
A game that haunts FSU today, the infamous wide right. Both teams were in te top 5, and was billed as the game of the year, highly hyped and was a battle for the rivalry bragging rights. Well it was a classic with Miami dominating and jumping out early, but FSU came back and took the lead behind heisman QB Chris Wienkie, 24-20. Then Ken Dorsey found Jeremy Shockey to get the lead. Still Fsu drove the field and had a field goal to tie, but it went you guessed it wide right.
#9. Texas 38, Michigan 37, 2005
This is the game that sparked Vince Young into a dominant force in College Football. This was a great battle between a Michigan team that got stunned by OSU and a Texas team that was dominant aside from the OU game. Young broke out with nearly 200 yards rushing and 4 scores, in a dominant game that marked Young as a star and began a dominant run for Texas. Micihgan rode Braylon Edwards and his 120 yards to a great game. Laste Young drove Texas to the 19 and got a game winning field goal, to surprise Michigan and announce Texas as a national title contender for the next year.
Top 8 Impact True Freshman
#1. DeAndre Brown, WR, Southern Miss
Brown really surprised a lot of people last january selecting Southern Miss over Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and similar schools. Brown has been compared to Calvin Johnson and has th great ability to be a star. USM lacks offensive receiving weapons, so Brown should be teh #1 receiver. Brown is 6-6 225, and runs a 4.48 40, add in his great redzone ability and Brown should have a huge impact this season.
Projected Stats: 51 receptions, 775 yards, 10 TD's
#2. Enrique Davis, RB, Ole Miss
Davis broke the Hearts of Auburn fans, selecting Ole Miss, over Auburn, because he no longer wanted to go to Auburn due to the new spread attack there. Davis is a speedster who really burst on the scene as a senior recording 24 scores and 1,817 yards. He has a shot to be the starter at Ole Miss, and really be a great secondary option to Jevan Snead. Davis is big, but has been receorded at a 4.39 40, so you know he can fly. If give the touches expect at least 1,000 yards this season.
Projected Stats: 205 carries, 1,015 yards, 10 TD's
#3. A.J. Green, WR, Georgia
Green is a freak athlete and was the big signing for Mark Richt. With Georgia having receiver problems in the past, Green comes in at just the right time. He is a decent speed wideout, but his skills are making big time acrobatic catches. When I watch him play he reminds me of a smaller Randy Moss. Green is very raw, but has plenty of ridiculous catches, and knows how to make plays in the air. I think that he will play very well if he gets the playing time.
Projected Stats: 35 catches, 510 yards, 6 TD's
#4. LaMaar Thomas, RB/WR/KR/PR, Ohio State
Known as Flash, Thomas has been a star during fall practice. Thomas is being used as a Wide Out, but many have said that he will be used much like Percy Harvin, running, receiving, and this season they want him to possibly return Kicks. Thomas reportedly ran a 4.29 40 at camp, and I think that he is to good to keep off of the field.
Projected Stats: 20 catches, 300 yards, 2 TD's, 30 rushes, 200 yards, 2 TD's, 20 returns, 650 yards, 2 TD's
#5. Darryl Stonum, WR, Michigan
Stonum is a perfect fit in Rich Rod's offense. A speedy slot receiver, watch out for him to be the #2 receiver after Greg Matthews. Stonum may not be a great kick returner, but still has the elusiveness to be a great player in the open field. He has been solid at fall camp from what I've heard, and I feel he will really be solid for Michigan
Projected Stats: 37 receptions, 566 yards, 4 TD's
#6. Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame
Rudolph was a big signing for Notre Dame. With John Carlson gratuated Rudolph will be the #1 Tight End for Notre ame, and young QB Jimmy Clausen should lean on Rudolph big time. Rudolph has hands like a wide out, and really impressed me in the film I have seen. He clearly knows how to make plays and should be solid if he improves his blocking.
Projected Stats: 41 receptions 534 yards, 7 TD's
#7. Marcus Fortson, DT, Miami
Forston is really the only defensive player who I see really coming in and making a huge impact. There are plenty who should contribute, but I don't see anyone outside of him who can really have a huge season. Fortson is a big massive tackle, who is still pretty mobile. He has good block shedding ability and is not only a run stuffer, but a solid pass rusher. Maybe he can improve a mediocre Miami defense.
Projected Stats: 39 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 6 sacks
#8. Ryan Williams, RB, Virginia Tech
Williams was expected to redshirt this year, then off-field problems led to Brandon Ore transferring. Williams should at least see the field if not start now that this occured. Williams is a small back with good cut back ability, and great ability in space. I expect Williams to really try and give VT a solid running game.
Projected Stats: 145 carries, 780 yards, 7 TD's

Chelsey Buhler
Jarah Mariano
