I came into work on a regular work day, didn't think anything of it. I take my cigarette breaks and sit down in our smoking section and no matter what, ALWAYS end up in a sports conversation, either talking about my KC Royals, or San Diego Chargers...or discussing other smokers favorite teams.
Would always see this guy there, texting or using his phone for one thing or the other and he looked over at me out of the blue and asked if he could run an idea by me, since I love sports. I said "sure" and he might as well have had a glow behind him and the voice of God himself, as he described the most beautiful idea I had ever heard. A site where sportsfans could all socially network, much like MySpace but more for smack talking. Once the light had subsided, and the angels stopping flying around and they headed over to the parking garage to get their cars (we validate), I looked at him like a genius.
The guy was Mark Heller, the CEO of Diehard101.com and he sold me. The minute he told me, I signed up when he created it and have been doing all I can to give sportsfans the same vision of Diehard101 I had while listening to him. It's not that I want to spam people or anything with discussions of what our site offers, it's that I really think the site is the next phase of fan participation...across every sport. For crying out loud, I even want an area of our site JUST for Madden players. How devoted is that?
But let's get to the main topic...the fans. We have collected one HELL of an assortment of good people. There's our official team bloggers (many teams still available), our writers bullpen (myself included), the dedicated fans, and to be honest, are just missing an important piece....YOU. That's right, if you are reading this and are not a member of Diehard101.com then you should be. At least to say you tried it. If you don't like it, just drop a message to DaBoyz (Mark), and let him know what areas you didn't like about it, and we will not hound you to "give us another try"...we hope you will, but we aren't going to annoy you to stay...just annoy you to sign up and try it.
By the way, wanted to link a new blog I posted there today. It's a fantasy football guide for women...and I think you will enjoy it.
As always, our signup page:
Have a good sports day.
