Sorry this series recap is so late, but it's here nevertheless. I've been busy..so here we go...
8/18- Great start to the series. Yet, another complete game for CC Sabathia. A big offensive outburst for CC. We had this big offensive outburst without Prince and Braun having a hit. Both of the home runs against CC were solo shots. The big thing is that CC had a big pitch count, but off days will help that out a lot.
8/19- Yet another odd start for Ben Sheets. Sheets started off great..and was even given a 2 run lead. Only to give that up..and then eventually give up three more runs. It seemed like Sheets had his good stuff going for a little bit, then the wheels just fell off. Meanwhile Brian Moehler, the Astros starter pitched an average game and got the win. I'm really not sure what is wrong with Sheets..but 1-6 since the Sabathia trade is unacceptable. He needs to figure it out again, because I don't know how we can have any success in a playoff run with Sheets pitching the way he is.
8/20- A highly controversial game. Manny Parra got the win..and didn't really pitch all that well that was a good sign. He was given an early lead and then gave up a pair of runs. But, none of that is important. Well, I lied..JJ Hardy's 2-run bomb to give us a 5-2 lead was pretty big. Anyways let's fast forward to the bottom of the 8th. Let's go to a crucial at bat..there were 2 men on..and Lance Berkman was at bat. Anyways Eric Gagne throws a pitch inside and the umpire says it hits him on the shirt I do believe. Anyways on tv they kept showing the replay..and it's pretty clear the ball never hit him. It was a horrible horrible call. Luckily Eric got out of the inning pretty easily after that with a nice double play. Another relatively important note is Jason Kendall got a day off.
I apologize if the formatting is horrible...I'm pretty sure I effed that up..and if I did I apologize to all..hopefully it's still legible.
