A new college football season is upon us, and if it is anything like last season we fans will be extremely entertained. Usually I post The TRUE Top 25 rankings, but I will not be posting them until the first weekend of games is played in October. I firmly believe that rankings should be based on overall body of work by a team rather than pre-season opinions. With that being said, instead of rankings, I will make my predictions for the 2008 season for everyone to take a gander at. Nice job, not the same bland stuff you always see. That being said if this OSU team loses 3 games I will be utterly shocked. 2 games is the worst case scenario. And losing to Illinois will not happen, I promise you these veterans are out for revenge.

August 23, 2008  12:33 AM ET

Georgia in the BCS Game, LSU in the Sugar Bowl.

August 23, 2008  02:01 AM ET

If Costas injury is minor, I love your pic for Oregon. However, if Roper starts I might adjust the prediction. He had no interceptions and four touchdowns in the Sun Bowl against your Bulls [ loved watching them last season ], but he didn't move the ball well. Injuries all around the PAC-10 in the last few weeks make it hard to predict what could happen this year.

Was digging in your blogs n liked your "True 25 Final" post. Interesting evaluation of the season.

August 23, 2008  03:04 AM ET

3 Losses for UGA?!? 2 At most, and Florida will lose two due to the defense and Tebow getting banged up....again.

August 23, 2008  03:17 AM ET

South Florida in the Sugar Bowl. HAHAHA, we'll see about that

August 23, 2008  04:01 AM ET

I do think SF is a pretty good team, but look at the past, they loose all their momentum at the end of the season. This is when they play WVU!!! So even if they do have a great begining of their season, it won't last! And this is good for WVU because SF has to play all of their "all important" conference games in a row and cap them off in Morgantown! WVU Big East CHAMPS!!! Go EERS!

August 23, 2008  08:47 AM ET

No way Arizona State looses 4. Two at the most and one is most likely, possibly USC. Could be Georgia, however they will wilt in the House of Heat especially with the game time being 5:15pm. Should be around 107 degrees at that time.

GO SPARKY! GO ASU SUN DEVILS!

August 23, 2008  10:01 AM ET

This whole UGA will lose in Tempe because of the heat storyline is bullsh!t. It gets pretty sweltering in Athens in September also. I would love for your team to experience how comfortable a 12:30 kickoff is between the hedges during September. I also saw that your team has been practicing in a bubble because it is too hot outside, while in Athens the dawgs have been having two a days outdoors in similar 105 rangeish heat. And please don't go dry v. humid on me. Completely assanine argument, What is more relevant than heat is how good your Oline will be this year. Lets hope for Rudy Carpenter's sake better than last year or this game will look similar to the chest caving that Colt Brennan received in the Sugar Bowl.
Also funny to note is that UGA fans that can't get tickets for this game through the normal channels, are just buying ASU season tickets for 99 dollars a set and donating the other tickets to charity for a tax write off. Not suprising from a fan base that hates on its best player. You do have some fine women down there though.

August 23, 2008  12:08 PM ET

the fact that you have south florida going 11-1 makes the rest of your predictions look suspect. Looks like you put a bunch of numbers in a hat and just picked them out and put that down...KEEP YOUR DAY JOB!!!!!

August 23, 2008  12:58 PM ET

i am truly sorry that i have to say this, but this is the worst blog post ever! three losses for ohio state?!?! are you stupid? even though i truly hate them they cant lose three games and neither can georgia. do you have any idea how retarded you sound you have two of the top three teams losing three games a piece? this is blasfemy, absolute bull ****! how do you see auburn in the nc game? a team with two new coordinators cmon. you suck, dont quit your day job assuming you have one

August 23, 2008  03:03 PM ET

Great post, much better than the bland other ones. I like the "Arizona will upset USC" part.

I don't agree with most of it, but that's why I like it so much: It's ballsy.

I'll be back later with my own Bold Predictions.

August 23, 2008  03:08 PM ET

Also, the heat in Tempe will not bother the Georgia football team. Trust me.

Gimme 110 degrees of dry-heat over 98 in Athens filled with humidity any day.

August 23, 2008  04:03 PM ET

This is why I love predictions, everyone gets a little riled up. These predictions did not come out of a hat, and I will give a little more insight into my rationale. First Georgia and Ohio State, I am not on either bandwagon. However I do feel maybe Ohio State fans have a better gripe than those of Georgia.

I see OSU losing at USC and at Wisconsin, I think they will have trouble in Illinois and that is where they could get there third loss, and lets not forget the always dangerous rivalry game against Michigan at the end of the year. Three losses is a real possibility, but I would not be shocked if they limited the loss column to 2 games. Either way, Wisconsin wins the Big 10.

On to Georgia, basically because of these two stretches....

1. at South Carolina (Who beat them last year)
at Arizona State (A solid opponent, and you all are right weather will not be a big deal this game.)
Alabama (A team on the rise)
Tennessee (Who has owned Georgia the last two years).

2. At LSU (Always a talented team in a hostile environment)
vs Florida (A team looking for revenge)
at Kentucky (An OK road test)
at Auburn (I will get to them next).

It is very possible that Georgia loses three of these games, I mean they did lose 2 last year with a much easier schedule.

Now, Auburn I have them in the National Championship game because I believe the SEC Champ will be there and it will be the Tigers. The new offense is a tremendous improvement, the defense is still stout and most of all their schedule sets up the best for any SEC team with all there difficult conference games at home. Their hardest challenge may be at West Virginia, which I believe they will win in what will be one of the best games of the season.

Now onto South Florida, yes I am a graduate of the school, but my prediction is based on how well the schedule sets up for USF, the only game the Bulls will lose before the matchup against WVU is to Cincinnati in the cold of Ohio 5 days removed from playing Louisville. That leaves them 10-1 going into that game, and if there is any bias coming out in this, it is that USF beats WVU 3 years in a row, when really I can see this defacto Big East Championship game going either way. Anyhow those are a few reasons behind the madness, but we all should have learned last year to expect the unexpected and that is what I am going to do.

Just to add to the fun...

National Championship - USC over Auburn

Orange Bowl - Missouri over Wake Forest

Fiesta Bowl - Oklahoma over Virginia Tech

Sugar Bowl - Florida over South Florida

Rose Bowl - Wisconsin over BYU

August 23, 2008  04:07 PM ET

That is pretty biased. And Maryland is apparently very underrated

August 23, 2008  07:03 PM ET

USF BULL!!

I **** love it!

Let's face it, the guys on ESPN and all the college football media people are, on a reasonable scale, slightly above average on the IQ barometer. And the typical sheeple college football fans go along with anything and everything those clowns say, and then when you go to a blog like this all you get is the whole regurgitation all over again.

It's nice to read something on here with decent grammar and at least some actual thought.

I actually like your pick of Auburn winning the SEC. I'm not sure I'd bet money on it, but I like the pick.

You gotta figure, their offense last year was pretty weak, but when the new offensive coordinator took over just before the Bowl Game against Clemson, you could see an improvement. However, that could have been because Clemson is from the wimpy ACC...

I don't think Arizona State has the horses to hang with Georgia. They have a weak offensive line, and we all saw what Georgia did to Hawaii's o-line.

On the other hand, should ASU defeat the Bulldogs, I wouldn't be too surprised. Let's face it, ASU has been a good upset team through the years. After Southern Cal went to Alabama in 1978 and beat Bear Bryant's team by two touchdowns, ASU beat USC the following week, giving the then #1 Trojans their only loss of the year.

Remember when Nebraska was on top of its game and won a rediculous amount of games in row back in the 1990s? Jake Plummer and ASU shut them out, like 19-0?

Still, I have Georgia winning over ASU, 27-17.

I don't think Wisconsin will win the Pig 10. They got Fresno, Michigan and OSU in a row, then Penn State and Illinois. Not exactly Murderers Row, but it aint a cake-walk either. Despite what people say about MICHIGAN havinga "rebuilding" year, I think they'll not only go Bowling, but will go to a New Years Day Bowl. In fact, I see them having a similar record as last year. Miami (Oh), Toledo, Minnesota, Northwestern and Purdue are wins. Utah, ND, OSU, Wisconsin, MSU, Illinois and Penn State are games I see them going 4-3.

OSU, I think will win the Pig 10.

Personally, I think your essay is far less-biased than the majority of blogs on here. It's also refreshing to read something written by someone whose team belongs to a conference outside the SEC and Pig 10. I like LSU and all, but I get tired of reading everything about them. I live in Southern California, and I hear a lot more aboutt LSU than SC.

August 23, 2008  11:17 PM ET

I think that most of your picks are pretty good except for auburn winning the national championship seeing is how they lost there QB and also because im a bama fan (lol) and not seein them winning it all. and i agree with the georgia prediction. Can u say "Over Rated"!!??!! And as for USF going 11-1 Seems alittle bias but if i did one over Alabama i would have them going 11-1 so good job overall.

August 24, 2008  04:46 AM ET

No way that OSU and UGA each have 3 losses. Not going to happen, especially since OSU has a pretty soft schedule. I'd love WFU to win the ACC, but I think Clemson is loaded. True, they have a track record of choking... Texas A&M would be lucky to go 9-3. South Florida won't win the Big East.

August 25, 2008  09:59 AM ET

michigan 10-2 and ND 5-7 please

August 26, 2008  01:48 AM ET

3 Losses? Are you kidding me? GA will not have 3 Losses! One at the most. Go back and read some of your history here buddy! The best Coach in Non-Conference Games? Mark Richt! The only Coach to never lose three times in a row to a single opponent? Mark Richt! The best Coach in the SEC playing away from home? once again Mark Richt! I don't have to gloat or yell about it just go back and read the records... oh and here is one more Name the One Coach who has won 99% of all bowl games he has ever coached in... Oh yeah that would be Mark Richt. Only loss came against BC in the First Year of the David Greene and David Pollack era. Go back and do some more research before you begin spouting out with Diarrhea of the mouth...

August 26, 2008  03:41 PM ET

Dude. Didn't West Virginia beat Georgia a few years back in a major BCS Bowl?

Better put your lab coat on, CBLDWG6.
