After we quickly watched the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics games come and go quite quickly within one eye blink we saw lots including Phelps winning a record 8 gold medals, China going 8 for 8 in gold in the diving, Nastia Liukin upsetting for the all-around gold in womens gymnastics, Usain Bolt with three golds and three world sprint records and many inspiring Olympics dreams and stories.

From the Cube to the Birds nest to the gymnastics floor, the United States really dominated all the stages that were set out. It was a tight medal race throughout the Olynmpic games but it was the difference in the team sports that prevailed in my opinion. We won a medal in every team major sport that was contested in the Olympics from beach and indoor volleyball to soccer to water polo to baseball, softball and basketball.

But beyond all the medals and athletes who have dominated some of the inspirational stories have stood out. From a one legged open water swimmer to a 33 year old medaling gymnast and a 41 year old medaling swimmer, 20 United States Olympic moms. a retired soldier and a cancer victim, everyone has had dreams and there are some that have come true. This is what stands out in the Olympics to me.

The Olympics for 2008 are over and in good fashion, the ceremonies were beutiful to watch and come Vancouver and London, there will be high expectations as well. But in 18 months this will all start over again except it will be the Winter Games instead.
