The Crippler, The Rabid Wolverine...but to me, an All-Time Great. Say what you will about Professional Wrestling, but I guarantee that whoever decides to read this that in one way or form...you watched it. From WCW to WWE, most of us during the early 80s to the late 90s was watching. If you deny that, then don't bother reading this blog.
I've been a fan forever but I can honestly say that Wrestling is at an all-time low. From this absurb Vince McMahon "Death" storyline to John Cena continuing to overcome the great odds that stack against him, today's tragic death of Chris Benoit and his family has dealt wrestling with another blow. And mark my words on this one: The next professional wrestler that will end up dead is you Kurt Angle.
I apologize if I hurt any of today's "Chain-Gang" wrestling fans with my brute honesty but hey...the truth hurts. I'm a real fan...and if you want an example of that then watch the Smackdown show that took place last Friday in Philadelphia because I was there. I was one of those 17,000 who booed the hell out of that BS Vince McMahon Tribute. You cant **** fans from Philadelphia.
Now I must refrain from my WWE bashing and pay my respects to Chris Benoit. I've been blessed to see Chris Benoit perform live many times and there is no doubt that everytime he was in that ring, he was all business. Philadelphia fans appreciated that every time he stepped foot in between those ropes. A blue-collar, hard working wrestler who did whatever it took to win the match but more importantly....entertain us. In the end that is what he was supposed to do, and he did a hell of a good job in doing so.
It doesn't matter what ends up being the deciding reason that Chris Benoit, his son Daniel and wife Nancy were found dead today is. The reason for me is because they are in a better place....enjoying the sweet divine that is Heaven. Your Greatest Moment for you Chris was winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XX. In my eyes, your greatest moment will be how your lasting legacy will affect future superstars in this business in how they will carry the torch that you have passed on today. God Bless Man, Eddie has been waiting for you.
