LSU will be loaded once again at the running back position featuring a stable of outstanding backs. The NFL's gain of Jacob Hester to the Draft will minimally effect the Tigers because the Running back position for the Tigers, like the Defensive Tackle position is stacked with exceptional players to step up and fill that role. Over the next few days I will examine and introduce you to this outstanding backfield to give you a preview of who are sure to be household names this year. I will start will 6'0, 230 lb. 4.4 Forty,  Keiland Williams from Lafayette, LA.

Williams came to LSU from Lafayette, LA by way of Hargrave Military Academy. He established his grades while there and joined the Tigers to make a huge impact on the National Championship team. Recruited as a 5 star running back, Williams has proven to be every bit as good as the ranking he earned out of High School. He is fast, has great quickness, and has big play ability as depicted in this video from the LSU vs. Va Tech Game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcUVLK4T9YI  During this game Williams rushed for 126 yds. and score 2 TD's against one of the Nation's "best" defenses.

The Tigers are expected to once again use the running back by committee approach as they have for the last couple of years to lesson the burden of the inexperienced QB's. Expect Williams to get the majority of touches for the Tigers. He is a proven winner and looks to be a stand out for the upcoming season. Williams rush 70 times for 478 yards last season averaging 6.8 yards per carry and accumulated 6 touchdowns. Expect those numbers to grow this year as he attempts to fill the shoes of Hester's 1000+ yd season. Williams is sure to be a household name by mid-season. In the days to come I will highlight Charles Scott, Richard Murphy, and Trindon Holliday. Also, here's a little something for the Tiger faithful to get you pumped up for the season. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WW944HV2OSA&feature=email

That's a big fast guy. I liked what I saw out of him last season. He should be the main guy in the rotation.

He's a Junior? I've heard of him but not a lot on him. But supposedly he's supposed to break out now with the starters roll.

He's going to be huge, that leaves the pressure all on the quaterback position now for this year's offense

I don't agree with everything Ivan Maisel says, but he claims LSU is Georgia's toughest game this year. I agree. People are probably tired of me blowing LSU's horn, but it's true.

You know what the problem is with LSU running backs? The same problem Southern Cal has: Both schools have TOO MANY.

My theory is, is that both schools have such a great stable of quality running backs, and neither school commits to one or two, therefore a star on neither team ever emerges. I think you need playing time in game situations to emerge. Kind of like quarterbacks. Rotating quarterbacks never does the trick. Until the coach goes with one, the offense never takes off.

Just my opinion.

LSU needs all of these guys for different situations. I think Scott will become the Jacob Hester guy for short yardage, but K. Williams is probably the most talented with speeed and good eyes, but R. Murphy is the unknown . R. Murphy was the best in Spring and he has sort of a combination of Scott and Williams in that he has moves, power, and very good speed. Gridley the Redshirt Freshman will play during the year and will surprise a lot of people. Of course, you can't forget Trindon Holiday with his NCAA Track Speed. I think LSU needs to get Holiday in the flats and let him blaze the sidelines with his speed.

LSU will be more running, but if The QBs can develop as hoped, they certainly have the wide receivers with speed and experience. So we will see as the season goes what will be the LSU personality this year. I think they will be better than most expect, and we should be able to see if that is true next week against Auburn. The LSU vs Auburn game is always a big hared hitting and brusing battle so we will see a lot from this game.
