Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman has 4, yes 4! opinions on his torn ligaments in his knee. He has decided to be his own doctor and play against 4 doctors opinions. Now I know that some players are passionate and I am all for players playing through pain. But this is sheer stupidity. He is risking his entire career just to play this season. Most of the players who have had knee surgery need most of the regular and following off season to get back in shape. What happens if Shawne does futher damage to his knee? How may seasons will he be out then? What happens if he doesn't have a career. I admire his dedication, in twisted sort of way. If I get a hangnail, I'm ready to call off from work...lol
Michael Strahan decided not to comeback after all. Although I understand his reasoning, I can't help but be disappointed. I was looking forward to seeing him out on the field. Even if his defense dismantled my mighty Patriots. He is a class act and might actually watch FOX sports now. (I usually avoid all FOX stations unless their is a football or basketball game on)

Players don't always know whats best for them or the team. The Chargers should tell him he isn't playing unless he signs an injury waiver. They could be held liable for any career ending injury to that knee.
He should not be allowed to make a decision that is not medically sound, he's not qualified. I understand his passion, but he has to look past that and get his knee fixed.
