3 games down, 1 to go in the Pre Season and fans have been frustrated at the most recent news. Giants fans, Chargers fans and Miami Dolpins fans have witnessed their best go down as early as the third game of the pre season. So how will the Defenses play without their leaders? Let's see:

 <<<<<<<< San Deigo's Merriman went down with 2 torn ligaments but expects to play even though 5 specialists thought he should undergo season ending surgery.

 But Merriman will most likely not play up to par, so how will this Chargers D play?

DL- Great!!!    Luis Castillo and Jamal Williams are considered to be in the top 10 @ their position.

LB- Good!       Merriman is of course the strength of the LB group but sack happy OLB Shuan Phillips will take over plus Merriman can still be a vocal leader as ussal.

Sec.- Great!!!  Antonio Cromartie and Quentin Jammar are two very skilled and athletic CBs who can teach rookie Antoine Cason some good- Clinton Hart and Eric Weddle are for the most part mistake free.

Defense= Stable

<<<<<< NYG's Osi Umenyiora out for the season with a knee injury.

DL- Not so pretty.   Osi is out, Strahan is done and Justin Tuck may be rising but not enough to make up for the two members that belong to the title of "one of the best pass ruching duos in the NFL for the last few seaons". They have a strong run stopping DT core but pass ruching will no longer look as good.

LB- Not so pretty.    Kawika Mitchell is gone and although Antonio Peirce is coming off a strong year Mathias Kiwanuka is not guaranteed to have any sucess.

Sec.- Not so pretty.   I know, I know this is the 3rd staright time but for the most part the secondary sucked last year unitl it mattered the most (postseason). Plus their best secondary man is gone in Gibril Wilson.

Defense = Definitley Declining

We'll take a look at our third major man out:

<<<<<<<<<< Jason Taylor: injured knee when playing against the Carolina Panthers.

I will cut to the chase by saying he is expected back in 2 weeks and the Defense will improve, this Defense was a top 10 D last year and may get a little better or just slightly worse.
