Still Some Names Out There..., why? | Kev316's Blog

With Sakic resigning for a year in Colorado..., thank you Joe!, there are still a few interesting names out there and, I am trying to figure out why? I understand the whole 'Sundin' situation and quite frankly, as a Leafs fan, this is ridiculous! He's had two months..., make up your mind already! I just don't see why guys like Selanne, Shanahan and for the most part, Murray and Parrish, are still out there, waiting for something to happen and then make a decision. It's good to see Philadelphia take a shot at Berard..., he'd make a nice addition to their blue line with Jones and Coburn. Selanne's probably waiting for Anaheim to rid themselves of Schneider but, don't hold your breath..., I don't know if a lot of teams are interested in this guy due to age. A lot of teams are just waiting for that one phone call, saying that Sundin's signed before they start picking through the leftover free agents and with training camp looming, it won't take long. I see the first week of September as 'bargain days' in the NHL..., sign a Shanahan or a Selanne or a Murray on the cheap and let the other guys go. But then again..., maybe a few of those will take a page from Stu Barnes' book, retire and head to the bench. And of all those teams just waiting for Mats' decision..., don't hold your breath. This guy has taken the entire summer to think about it and has changed 'deadlines' so often that, no one really knows what the real date is! Don't get me wrong..., I like Sundin and what he did in Toronto, even if we never won a Cup, but the point is..., make a decision already! I understand the cap thing but really..., pick up a phone, call your ex employer and let him know whether you're coming back. If you're not, thanks for the memories and Fletch can go out and sign Parrish and Shanahan for the $7 they got waiting for Sundin. Then all of us Leaf fans can go on with our lives..., not caring about where #13 plays next season.
