Lugoff-Elgin took to the road for opening night of the 2008 South Carolina High School season and defeated the White Knoll Timberwolves, 34-6.

1 -  Running Backs --  Trent Hudson showed that you can't just concentrate on Senior RB, Phillip Osborne, as the junior ran for 95 yards and scored 3 touchdowns.  He would have had over a hundred yards if it wasn't for the fact that he got sick from the heat and sat out much of the second quarter.  Hudson's numbers garnered him the Sporst Connection Kool 102.7 Player Of The Game.  Osborne rushed for 112 yards on the night.

2 - Offensive Line --  They knew they were the gears that would drive the offense from the first time they came out for warm ups til the end of the game.  You have to love the confidence this group of senior starters show each time they go out on the field.  You get that when your backs can get close to 7 yards each time they touch the ball and have huge holes to run through.  After coming out for the second half, you could hear guard Jacob Lynch making comments to the team that this was their game to win it and each guy needed to make it happen.

3 - Defense --  This group led by Ryan "The Playmaker" Wannamaker and Campbell "The Cannonball" Connell picked up where they left off last year.  Both were in the Timberwolf backfield as much as their own running backs were.  Every member of this D loves to hit and hit shows.  They could fill a season's worth of hard hit highlights just from this game alone.  White Knoll's QB and RB will need to spend a little more time in the hot tub this week because they put a hurtin' on them.   They had a shutout going til the final seconds of the game when WK scored against the second teamers.  Love that nastiness they show each week and that's a quality all the great defenses in football have shown,

4 - Miscues - After making several mistakes in the first two jamborees, Head Coach Scott Jones wanted to see penalities decrease with this game.  For the most part that happened, but an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty that led a White Knoll field goal attempt kept that drive alive.  Lugoff-Elgin had two turnovers; a contoversial fumble call after Phillip Osborne had his helmet ripped off his head off and a Forrest Koumas interception.

Next week the Demons hit the road again as they visit the Airport Eagles.  The Demon D will be tested as Airport will have a potent offensive attack.  They'll feature a Tim Tebow type of QB in W. T. Murdin.  As always you can listen to Demon Football on the internet courtesy of Kool 102.7 (www.kool1027.com).  When you get to their site, just click on the LE helmet.  Kool 102.7 also archives the games so you can listen to the games you missed.
