In response to:
Mets prefer Oswalt over Buehrle
The White Sox may offer Mark Buehrle to the Mets but, if they want Carlos Gomez or Lastings Milledge, GM Omar Minaya would not listen for too long. If the Astros ever dangled Roy Oswalt the Mets would definitely include Gomez and Milledge in the discussions.

Some misinformed genius thinks he's on to something here. Sure, who wouldn't prefer Oswalt over Buehrle? That's exactly why Oswalt made sure his new $73 million-5-year (plus 2012 option) contract included a FULL NO-TRADE CLAUSE. Roy has been with the Astros for almost 7 seasons now. He is fully aware of how inconsistent they are year in and year out, but chose to stick with for at least 5 more years. He obviously doesn't care about the lack of media attention, in fact, coming from a southern town with a population of 500 people, I'm sure he's grateful for the lack of press. It keeps him focused on his game.

On a second note, why would the Astros trade their ace just because they seem to be out of the pennant race THIS YEAR? This RUMOR is purely fan talk (of the non-Astros fan variety). HIGHLY doubtful anyone has actually spoken to the Mets' powers that be. I believe every major league club was informed when Roy signed his contract last year that they would not be able to even TALK about him until 2012.
