Aggies,
It is time to set the facts straight. We (Aggie fans) are getting destroyed locally in the Dallas/Fort Worth talk radio scene. Ignorant Aggie haters are calling in bashing us left and right. "We are getting what we deserved." "We are just making excuses about lack of talent. What happened to all of those Top 20 recruiting classes?." "The Aggies are what they are...bottom feeders." "The Aggies will never matter again."
Some of this is opinion, and we can't stop it. But facts, that's another story. I looked at the Rivals.com database to check out the last 5 years of recruiting. The rankings by year 2008 - 16, 2007 - 43, 2006 - 27, 2005 - 8, 2004 - 13. Our last three years have 1...that is 1 top 20 recruiting class, this year's group. I bemoan the lack of receivers. How many 5 star recievers over the last 5 years...none. Only 1 five star player - TE M. Bennett (now of the Dallas Cowboys). OK, how about 4 star WRs, 3 Dequan Mobley in 2004, Howard Morrow 2005, and Jeff Fuller 2008. That would be 0, big fat nada, 4 star WRs in 2006 and 2007. Why? BECAUSE WE RAN THE FRIGGIN' OPTION!!! We have loaded up on 4 star RBs. Why? BECAUSE WE RAN THE FRIGGIN' OPTION!!!
If you want to question the coaching and talent, focus on the offensive line. That is where our 4 star talent is...right? One legit 4 star O lineman, in 2005 Michael Shumard. Kellen Heard was also listed as a 4 star OL in 2005, but I do believe he is D-line. You can't make chicken salad from chicken s... We do not have it where it counts, in the trenches...
Our recruiting excelled on defense and RBs. We have NFL talent at RB. And we held the Red Wolves to 1 touchdown. So our D was pretty good. Imagine not giving the ball up 4 times, maybe they wouldn't have kicked those FGs. Maybe if we weren't lining up 2 backup QBs at the WR position, we could have sustained some drives, ate up some more clock. Our OL looked like matadors... Imagine having the skill on the offensive side of the ball that the Aggie haters think we have...
So...if you are going to defend us...use facts...our recruiting dipped as the Fran years wore on. We went from Top 10 to Top 15 to 43 in 3 years in recruiting. We did not/could not recruit skill WRs in the option, and couldn't get elite OL talent to commit. And keep your resolve. We will be back...

Wally,
That IDIOT Robert Gates and the big cigars made a BIG mistake hiring Fran-She-Phone, an option guy. This guy was a turd and his program stank! Then "Dollar" Bill Byrne extended Fran's contract.
The whole world was moving on. Texas A&M was stuck with an 1960's retro-option attack. While the Aggies were stagnant, Kansas and Missouri were building BCS teams! Texas and Oklahoma were stock piling athletes who were untouchable to Aggies.
Aggies were sucking up Fran's VIP newsletter and thousands of Aggies were mesmerized by mindless TexAgs.com talking points.
Sherman is not the right guy. He's the guy we are stuck with. The beat down for Aggies here in the DFW area will continue!

I pay very little attention to radio or sites like texags.com. I quit going to that site years ago when they labled me as not being an Aggie because I had the audacity to actually think we could win some games. Imagine that. You support the team, and they make you an outcast.
Anyway, I'm not ready to give up on Sherman or the program just yet. I say give him a couple years to put his system in place and bring in some recruits. Changing coaches again so soon would just set us back again. And what coach would come in and turn the program around with the players we have now? It will be painfull for a year or two, but I do believe it will get better.
