My Dear Friends,

Thank you for all the great memories.  I had fun when I could.  I enjoyed levying my sports knowledge and opinions against yours.  Many of you are truly great sports minds and I relate to you with your love of America's Greatest Entertainment.

But I must leave you.  The hatred and frivilousness of FanNation has overridden any sense of joy that I could possibly extract from this website.  I hear that ESPN is starting a blog and even TSN.ca is very knowledgable about hockey - maybe I will try there.

Alas, I must move on to greener pastures and stricter rules against unbiased opinions.

Sweet Morrow FanNation, my friends.  I hope to see you again someday.

Take care of yourselves.

Love Swayze

Did you cry a little?

I sure as hell did.

Wait I am not that emotional or dramatic ...

Were I to actually leave FanNation I would likely either:

A.  For some inexplicable reason, stop wanting to talk or read about sports - and stop typing in the URL.

B.  Run off a tremendous amount of scathing TDs about RStowe and the pictures he drunkenly emailed me.

or

C.  Cash in on all the value in my TD record and throw a big party - in my bathroom - with just me and my hand.

This morning I read a blog by David - the facilitator of marks across your face.

http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/243975

It struck a cord with me as several times I have wanted to just shut it down and not subject myself to the abuse inflicted by either myself or other "FanNation Factors".  It is easy to be so emotionally involved with making the best possible argument only to have it wasted in one of a hundred different ways.

FanNation Members

However, the best decision I made was to not simply try to ignore it, but rather embrace it.  FanNation is open to the full gamut of special needs students, ardent a$# Holes, and higly intelligent people that use this site for entirely unique purposes.  That is what makes it interesting and keeps people coming back.

David's entirely appropriate blog points out the numerous frustrations and unfortunately numerous Members that have chosen to leave this website as a result.

My question to those Members ... What if you had stayed?  What if there were 30 or more quality users that have a strong history of intelligent comments had not given in to the petty comments and voting abuses.  We could have Ram debating Bombers and Moondizzle playing his best grab a$# games with Krobe.

When a current user is considering not coming back to this website because of the poor quality, when they leave they are just feeding into the problem.

The idiots always go away after they get their kicks, but it is tough to replace a quality member.  I am glad to see David posted just as many TDs as usual.

Think about the children, FanNation, think of the future generations.

Thank you for reading my first blog.

September 3, 2008  06:01 PM ET

^either a very satiracle comment or a very lazy reader.

September 3, 2008  06:15 PM ET

Judging by his comments on other things, I'm guessing the latter.

Good blog. I wish people would stay, especially the ones that made it great in the first place.

HA! I mean, *Sob*.

Seriously, good blog BBF. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon and we'll just have the occasional Woodson or Mario passing through.

September 3, 2008  06:23 PM ET

It's "satirical". Just thought I'd correct you.
Previous commenter (meaning, the one ABOVE me) goes for me, too.

things will look up if the ppl that gave so much to this site stay on, and fend off the idiots. its the only way. words of wisdome mr. buff.

September 3, 2008  07:28 PM ET

I've fallen in love with you.

September 3, 2008  07:50 PM ET

A quitter, but still emotional

September 3, 2008  07:50 PM ET

Maybe you should give some advice to Cass.

Great blog. I would like to not see you go as I have read some of your TD's and obviously you are wise. It all makes sense though. Hate to see a good TDer go.

September 3, 2008  09:25 PM ET

By no means am I going anywhere ... I really just needed a good way to open up the blog.

You can be counted as the first person to ever call me wise, lets hope you start a trend.

Bombers? I'd beat him like he was married to Brett Myers!

September 3, 2008  09:32 PM ET

I agree with the sentiment. People who get fed up and leave because they are tired of the voting, fights, or whatever else just take this site far too seriously. In my opinion, anyways. Relax. Enjoy the site for what it has to offer. Anyone expecting a sports utopia of intelligent debate and enlightened thought will soon be burned out with hopelessness.

I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere

They can take my TD

But they can NEVER TAKE . . . . . MY FANDOM!!!
