Just thought people would like a little insight on the real numbers, using real math. You can do it yourself if you want to, or you can just take my word. I know Fausto won't, but that's okay. It's hard for sophomores in high school to do this type of math.

Even if he Obama was a congressmen for 4 years (impossible seeing as how he was elected in 2004 and began his teerm in January of 2005. It is 4 years in January of 2009) Congress convenes for roughly 7 months of the 12 months during the year. Using basic math, the most that Obama could be in Congress, assuming he was in his seat for votes that happened when he was campaigning in New Hampshire and Iowa, that is 7/12 x (12x3+9)/12 = 26.25 = 26 months, 7 days, 12 hours he has been in Congress, again assuming he was present for all 24 hours in a day. Take it a step further because Congress meets for 8 hours Monday-Friday, so long as it is not a holiday. 40 hours a week. 26 months x 22 days/month = 572 days + 7 days from above - 2 days (because 7 days include weekends) = 577 days x 8 hours/day = 4616 hours in Congress x 3600 seconds/hour = 16,617,600 seconds. Not all that much when you break it down huh?

Looking at McCain, to show non-biasism:

Using basic math, the most that McCain could be in Congress, assuming he was in his seat for votes that happened when he was campaigning in New Hampshire and Iowa, that is 7/12 x (12x22+9)/12 = 159.25 = 159 months, 7 days, 12 hours he has been in Congress, again assuming he was present for all 24 hours in a day. Take it a step further because Congress meets for 8 hours Monday-Friday, so long as it is not a holiday. 40 hours a week. 159 months x 22 days/month = 3498 days + 7 days from above - 2 days (because 7 days include weekends) = 3503 days x 8 hours/day = 28024 hours in Congress x 3600 seconds/hour = 100,886,400 seconds - 16,617,600 Obama's seconds = 84,268,800 more seconds in Congress than Obama, again all this is assuming they were at their seat for all 8 hours of every day that Congress met since they were elected. Interesting huh.
