Delaware is hot right now, and no not because of Senator Joe Biden. Delaware is hot because of 1-AA juggernauts University of Delaware, and Delaware State University (shout out to my kin-folk who went to State...HOLLA!). Last season, both State and UD qualified for the 1-AA playoffs and the two teams faced off in the first round for the first time in 30 years. Yeah, although the two schools are mere miles from each other, they do not play each other. Why? Some speculate that there is a racist motive between the two schools. University of Delaware has a predominantely White student body, and Delaware State is a Historically Black College. If it's not racism, it's business. Meaning that for both schools the chance to play on the road against a D-1 school provides a greater financial benefit then playing each other in a rivalry game. In either case both schools are loaded and ready to repeat last year's successes.
Delaware State opened the season with a win against Florida A&M University (sorry cuz!). In the 35-28 overtime victory Quarterback Vashon Winton ran for four touchdowns and led the Hornets to a win over the Rattlers. The next game for the Hornets is a road game against Kent State. It's the MEAC versus the MAC in Ohio next Saturday. The likelihood is that the D-1 school, Kent State, will prevail. After Kent State, it's a 1-AA schedule that is very favorable to the veteran Hornets. It looks good for a repeat performance and another playoff birth.
For Delaware the season opened to a loss against Maryland, 14 to 7. Delaware is replacing Joe Flacco the Quarterback that was drafed in the first round of the last NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. The Blue Hens of the Colonial Athletic Association played three QBs last week but had Da'rel Scott playing his first collegiate game and he rushed for 197 yards against the Terps. The Blue Hens have some talent but not having an established QB would put them on the outside looking in for the upcoming season.
Things look good in our First State, so with that said I thank you for reading.
Hey, DC...I hope you liked it. You damn near begged me to blog so here it is.

Hey, don't blame ME for your not getting around to writing on here, J. lol
And it's the Colonial Athletic ASSOCIATION...but that's OK. I couldn't expect you to keep it straight; it's really what absorbed the Atlantic 10 football conference (as of this year). It'll confuse anybody.
(Now, Danbash and Wahoo, how come you two HAVEN'T joined this little party?? And for THAT matter, how come nobody else??)

I don't blame you. I should have said LOL, because I was trying to be funny and the Heineken in my system made me blog.
Kids do not drunk blog. Also, do not drink because a tropical storm forced you to stay inside and force you to do nothing else but watch college football and drink.
It's wrong, children.

Sad I didn't know it was C.A.A. The closest 1-AA program to the City is Hofstra and we occasionally get there games on TV.
Plus I actually wanted to go to Hofstra for Undergrad. Didn't get a good Aid package.
