As you all know the Chargers lost to the Panthers, and the Chiefs lost to the Patriots. So this leaves Monday Night's crucial matchup with Denver will determine who enters Week 2 atop the AFC West. So here's to a preview...
The Raiders have a lot of questions at key positions...Is Russell ready at the QB position?
-I would have to say no. Not at all. He will need to play this year in order to be ready. From what I've seen he has a long ways to go. But this season, Raider fans must grit their teeth and undergo yet another rebuilding season, because success eminates from the QB position (yes the Bears went to a Super Bowl without one...but the Bears are who we thought they were so they don't count) So I think a couple of games under his belt, and he'll learn quickly. Believe me he isn't under much pressure considering Walters in waiting behind him. Try not to throw up in your throats.
How is that stable at RB?
Well they have some good but not great RBs in Fargas and McFadden. McFadden has to play some games in order to get an accurate impression of him, but so far they both look good. The running game will be key and probably the best hope for the offense...despite a mediocre offensive line.
How is the Recieving Corps?
SEE QB situation. Because we all know the WR's can't be successful unless the QB can get the ball to them.
Defense?
The defense is there. They've made some smart draft choices regarding their defense. They have speed at the corner position, and they could use some more speed on the line, but it worked well last year. If they can gel as a unit, that defense might just win them a couple of games by itself.
Prediction?
Raiders win 16-7. Defense scores on a pick 6, Denver comes back to tie the game, and the Raiders offense generates 9 points thanks to three Janikowski FGs. You know thats how its going down...
