I finally got my wife (a die hard Sooner Fan) to go to a home game at Memorial Field. I've been telling her that it is like nothing she will ever experience again. We went (She even wore crimson and cream Husker gear) and she had a BLAST! As soon as we got home, she was online trying to find tickets to the VT game and other home games. I think I may have converted her. Took 8 years, but I might have it done finally!

The game scared me silly in the first half. We had a decent lead, but look at the offensive numbers and you will see that we were behind in almost all categories. We couldn't run the ball, we couldn't pass effectively, we couldn't get out of our own way as far a penalties went, but we got lucky. The Defense bent but didn't break, which by anybody's definition is ok.

SJS scored on their opening drive but missed the PAT. They missed a total of 3 field goals + that point try, which probably saved our bacon. Had all of them gone through, I don't think the momentum would have shifted the way it did when Paul ran that kick off back. It was a thing of beauty. Our 2 INT's helped in the swing as well, with the one going back for a TD and the other stopping a good SJS drive.

I'm not going to put a lot of effort into this blog, as the offense didn't put a lot into the game, but I will say that the Defense held up to what I think the Black Shirt tradition was. Give what you have to, take what you can get, and don't let the bad guys in the endzone. It only happened once and when they got close again, they shut them down.

Good show Blackshirts.

PS... Roy Helu JR is the most exciting back I have ever watched play in person. His motor never stops, even with no ground under him!!

I actually think that Lucky will lose his job when you compare the two so far this year, but then again it's only two games in...

My thoughts on that first half was absolutely horrible. We were missing tackles, couldn't get our offense going, looked like the Ball St. game last year, Pelini must've scared all them silly with a half-time talk.

Second half was definitely better, looked just outstanding. Those couple screens that we passed to Nate Swift we're pretty affective. Helu came in strong, and Ganz looked much more accurate. Hopefully, that second half will be a boost to the NMSU game next week, which should be a blowout
