Hall of Fame coach Don Haskins died last night. For those who don't know, Coach Haskins was the first college basketball coach to ever start five African Americans in a game. But it wasn't just any game, it was the National Championship Game vs the powerhouse Kentucky Wildcats led by Pat Reily.

Texas Western ultimately ended up wining the game, as history was made. Haskins overcame criticism, rude remarks, taunts, and raunchy actions from fans for his decision. The players were treated worse since they were the "victims" in the situation. But none the less, Don Haskins showed pride and equality in himself and was ready to spread to across the country that African Americans had just the same right as whites to start the National Championship Game. About 4 years ago, the movie Glory Road starring Josh Lucas came to screens. It's a very powerful movie that gives you the idea of how the situation, time, and game was back in 1955. Adding onto that, for all you sports movie junkies out there, the sports scenes are very strong.

But this is a man that set the bar for not only college basketball, but for America in general. He changed the way people viewed sports, and showed that it's not the color of your skin that gets the playing time, but your talent, attitude, and work ethic.

    Don Haskins- RIP
