One thing you learn about life as a professional athletes is - time on the field is fleeting.
One wrong move- and say goodbye to your career. And injuries are not saved for just the 'mediocre' - it could (and does happen) to the best of them.
Last week- the headline in the news papers were- "Gone for the Year"-and under it was two pictures: one was of Pats QB-Tom Brady and the other was of Mets Reliever- Billy Wagner.
Just like that, two great stars and valuable athletes on their teams, were lost for the year due to severe injury.
It made me think- that maybe- just maybe- these pros are justified in collecting these "g-normous"pay checks.
Yes, they posses a rare talent that allows them to compete on the highest level in pro sports but along with that comes the risk of just - one wrong move - and BOOM, youre gone!
Now, there is good reason to believe that people like Brady and Wagner will come back and finish off their careers in great fashion, but there is also a good chance that they may never be the same and be forced to retire. And that's why life in sports, is fleeting.
For the monday morning QB, i'm Arny Schreer
