FanNation - The Republic of Sport

     Here we sit, on 9/11 plus 7, and I thought I had come up dry searching for ideas for a blog. Then I see an item in the Washington Post, and it all fell into place.

     But more on that later...

     By now, we've all read/heard/seen the "lipstick on a pig" bit from Barry Obama...and how that line has now been perceived as an insult towards Sarah Palin. (Or, as I've seen her referred to, the "VPILF". You figure out what it means...LMMFAO) Personally, I got a problem with this bim.

     For starters, she reminds me of my sister-in-law (my oldest brother's wife, who's from Washington state). And she's just as flaky, too. No clue whatsoever about foreign affairs. Denying women the opportunity to abort, even if their life and/or health is in danger.

     No, this is not someone you want a stroke away from the Presidency. Nor should you want to tick off the Wilson sisters, Ann and Nancy. (What, you thought I meant Carnie and Wendy?? LMAO)

     Now, to that Post story...

     It seems that Ann and Nancy Wilson, who you'll recall made up the group Heart, have asked the McCain campaign to cease and desist using their '70s classic "Barracuda" as Sarah Palin's theme music. ("Barracuda", of course, being the self-described nickname of the VPILF.) So far, the McCain camp has refused.

     If only they'd bothered to know the real story behind the song...

     The story (supposedly) goes, one night after a concert in Montreal Ann Wilson was approached by a reporter who asked "How's your lover??". To which she replied something about how the relationship was still strong, or something along those lines.

     "No", the reporter asked, "how's your lover??"...meaning her sister, Nancy. Needless to say Ann was NOT amused. So, off to her hotel room...and in 20 to 30 minutes, the words to "Barracuda" came so easy to her.

     That's right, folks. The song is anti-media in tone.

     And yet, like neutered dogs, John McCain and Sarah Palin AIN'T getting it. But then, isn't that really what's happened in America these last 7 years??

     Lipstick on pigs; Lysol on turds. You can't make 'em prettier, or get rid of the stench. That's Georgie Bush Junior's legacy, ladies and gentlemen. But I can't have the last word on this. No, I'll let Peggy Lee have it...from a song she recorded when I was a wee lad:

     Need I say more?? How best to describe America, 7 years after the fact??

     This is why over 3,000 people lost their lives at the World Trade Center?? Why over 150 people died at the Pentagon?? Why others died in a field in Shanksville, PA?? To bring about (in essence) a 3rd Georgie Bush Junior presidency??

     Because if it does happen...get your goddamned passports updated. It won't be America any more. At least, not the America all those people died for.

     Or does anyone give a **** about them any more??
