From a public relations snafu that had gathered some media attention during the past month. The New Meadowlands Stadium will not be called Allianz anything. Mark Lamping, CEO of New Meadowlands Stadium LLC released a statement today saying all naming discussions with Allianz are over.
“The New Meadowlands Stadium, LLC is no longer in discussions with Allianz for a naming rights partnership,” said Lamping. “We are continuing discussions with other potential partners for the new stadium and look forward to the summer 2010 opening of this new icon for our region.”
The question of who leaked the Allianz bid story to begin with, remains unanswered.
