Lugoff-Elgin improved their record to 2-1 with a great victory in their first home against a very good West Florence team, 24-14. The Demons would strike first on an 71 yard touchdown run by Phillip Osbourne. Ozzy would drag and then shed several West Florence defensive players prior to entering the end zone. That run to the land of Oz would come with 5:09 left in the first quarter.
Trent "The Hornet" Hudson would get the Demon faithful on their feet with an electrifying 78 yard run for a score with 6:46 left in the second quarter. The Demon Hogs offensive line would make key blocks allowing Hudson cut back three different times and out run a gauntlet of Knight defenders. The Demons would threaten later in the quarter as they got as close to the one yard line. After getting pushed back to the three on third down, LE would line up for a Grayson Quick field goal, however, West Florence would line up offside. After a Demon timeout, Head Coach Scott Jones would decide to go for it on fourth down. The Knight defense would hold. On the subsequent drive, West Florence would drive into Demon territory but the Demon D would hold and Lugoff-Elgin would head into the locker room with a two touchdown advantage.
West Florence would get the ball to start the second half though. The first play from scrimmage went for a TD and the two point conversion was unsuccessful. The Knights would score a second touchdown and converting on the two point conversion to even the score at 14. Fans didn't get a chance to get settled in their seats well as all of that scoring was within four mintues after the second half started. Even though the pendulum of momentum would swing to the Knight sideline, the Demons would dig a little deeper to do what had to be done to get the victory.
With 4:29 left in the third, Phillip Osborne would take the rock to the house for the second time on the night as he galloped 49 yards for his second TD of the night.
Later in the fourth quarter, sophomore kicker, Grayson Quick would send 42 yard field goal through the uprights to give us the final score of 24-14.
The defensive unit would come up big several times throughout the game. If it wasn't Ryan Wannamaker being the lead engine of the Pain Train, it was E. J. Gripper, Rakeem Hill or Trey Poston giving the Knight offensive line and quarterback fits. Anthony Myers had a huge night in the secondary as he had several pass break ups. Phillip Osbourne had a huge game on the ground, rushing 22 times for 244 yds. and 2 scores. Trent Hudson also went over the century mark as he carried the rock 10 times for 117 yds. and visited the end zone once.
By The Numbers -- 10.6 -- Ozzy's avg. yds per carry on the night. Trent Hudson had over 11 yds. per carry (11.7). You can't put up those kind of numbers if it wasn't for the Demon Hogs up front making holes for those two guys to run through.
Home Field Advantage -- I can't say enough about the Demon fans. You are making a difference each Friday night and my hat goes off to you. You are becoming the 12th man and the team feeds off of your energy. Keep up the great work!!
Thanks to all of our Lil' Demon Cheerleaders helping out our varsity squad during the 1st quarter Friday. It was fantastic to see such a huge turnout and I'm sure it was a great thrill for those girls to be on the sidelines helping cheer the Demons to victory.
This Friday night, the Camden Bulldogs come across the Wateree River Bridge to do battle with the Demons in the big county rivalry. Come early and tailgate.

RED ZONE it was a big big win the crowd was in it all the way though i don't know how many understood how big of a win it was. The Knights thrashed us last year at their home field, and every thing I saw in print ,and all I talked to leading up to the game had picked us to get hammered again. It was more fun than a barrel of monkeys. And the panthers game was nearly as much fun as well.

I truly believe you'll see LE come out with a huge swagger on Friday against Camden. Look for a big preview in Friday's State paper. Steve Wiseman is coming out to both schools on Thursday for interviews.
I loved that Panthers game too. Judging on the past two games, Carolina will pound it out in the first half and keep it close. The second half, we still run and have more success. The defense starts to cheat up and the passing game gets going. In the end, we pull it out and get the W.
