The NFL is looking into the Inadvertent whistle that required the officials to give Denver the ball back after an obvious fumble by Jay Culter.  This will not change the outcome of the game (sorry SD fans), but will help in the future to get calls correct. Its like the "down by contact" rule that was changed.  If the whistle blows and you fumble after that, the play can be reviewed.  Some experts have said that SD still had a chance to win the game at the end, but for me anything that happened after the "blown call" is immaterial, because SD could have run the clock out. There was also a play by Chris Chambers  that was ruled a fumbled and could not be overturned because the play couldn't be reviewed.......Hello, if instant replay is going to help get calls correct, it has to be working. I am defending SD because I like to see games won or lost because of the skill and talent showed on the field, not because of "bad calls" and faulty equipment. I'll admit that the Chargers defense was great, but neither was Denvers. Now I know the Denver fans will not like this, but the facts are facts, SD went home with a loss, but not as losers. I know I'd be upset if it had been my team and happy that it wasn't, that's just human nature. All I can say to the SD fans is to circle the 28th of Dec and prepare to get your revenge.

It's an absolutely travesty that a ref can make a mistake, immediately admit to the mistake but isn't allowed to correct it because of an insane rule. If they lose the division or even miss the playoffs by 1 game, particularly if Denver were to win it, the NFL is going to look REALLY bad.

Gotta feel a bit sorry for SD fans. Last week they get beat on an improbable last second TD then this week get screwed by a bad call.

Chargers had numerous chances to make that ONE PLAY irrelevent by stopping Denver when it ultimately matter and they couldnt do it. Their defense gave up 39 points! If the Bolts want to point to why they lost they need to look in the mirror and be ashamed of that D that allowed them to fall behind 21-3.

Point is that the chargers shouldn't have had to stop Denver. As far as falling behind, they did catch up, because Denver's defensed sucked just as bad. To play that hard and come back and then lose it on a horrible call is a sin even God can't forgive.

Unfortunately, because this was in the last 2 minutes of the game, this SHOULD have gone to the replay booth. Now just what WAS this "malfunction" that prevented the booth from reversing the call??
BTW, the league has decided to penalize Ed Hochuli (did I spell that right??) for this screw-up.

Who says Denver fans won't like it? We know that it was a blown call. Believe me, I was at the game, and we were all laughing the whole way home. None of us are going to complain about beating the Chargers any way we can, but we know that we stole one. All the same, the Chargers should have sacked up and made a play. They let Denver score twice on the exact same play, with the ball thrown to the exact same receiver, who ran the exact same route. That's the way it goes sometimes. We're 2-0, they're 0-2. Sometimes life sucks.
