Last night's Cowboys-Eagles game was exciting to watch, but disappointing to those of us who want to wipe the smile off the face of Terrell Owens. The Cowboys big offensive line did a good job protecting QB Tony Romo from the Eagles' pass rush most of the time. The Eagles protected Donovan McNabb fairly well also, but NOT at the end of the game. Defensively, both teams were disappointing. Both offenses moved almost at will for much of the game. Jim Johnson made some adjustments that kept the ball away from T.O. after his dynamic first half, but Jamie Whitten proved to be very good at gaining separation from the defensive backs and holding onto the ball. In my book, he was the most outstanding player, not the flamboyant Mr. Owens. The Eagles showed a very good passing game, especially when you consider that their two top receivers - Reggie Brown & Kevin Curtis - can't suit up because of injuries. But our Philadelphia Eagles defense could not handle the Cowboys. Lito Sheppard, the cry-baby who got upset when the Eagles signed Assante Samuel, was victimized by the much-taller Owens for much of the first half. Memo to Lito: "Play like a Champion and then you can write your own ticket! T. O. ran past you as if you were a senior citizen! Prove to the fans that you're able to play with the big boys!"
In the end Philly just came up short and Dallas was the better team. It's a long season, and there are 14 more games to play. The last game will be a rematch of these 2 offenses. I can hardly wait!
