The Dallas Cowboys are arguably the most talented team in football and most weekly rankings have them at #1 after week 2.  On offense they have Tony Romo at QB, Marion Barber & Felix Jones at RB, Terrel Owens at WR, Jason Witten at TE, and one of the best offensive lines in football.  On the defensive side of the TNTs can stop the run, Greg Ellis & Demarcus Ware OLBs that can cover and rush the passer, Terrence Newman & Adam Jones at CB, Patick Watkins at FS, and Jenkins & Henry in nickel and dime situations.  The punter and kicker both played in last year's pro-bowl and can change the momentum of the game.  Sounds like they should be annointed Super Bowl champs, however there is cause for concern.  As the season progress and when the playoffs arrive, the Cowboys are going to have to improve in 1 key area.  And that is what is found in-between the ears.  The Cowboys committ to many penalties and are prone to the boneheaded mistake.  In order to avoid these mistakes, the Cowboys are going to have to develop mental discipline, because eventually it is going to catch-up down the stretch and in January.  The Cowboys cannot win it on pure talent alone.  It was once said that the team that makes the less mistakes wins the game.  Hopefully, the Cowboys can start eliminating these mistakes these weekend against the Pakers.

Well TP, without having read your profile, I am going out on a limb and saying you are a Cowboys fan, yes? Cowboys have looked great the first two weeks. Their biggest test this year will be when they have to play the Steelers in Pittsburgh on December 7th. The Steelers are currently at #2 in the power rankings behind the Boys.

^ Wrong. You know I like you Cassidy, but the regular season does not matter for the Cowboys anymore. It really dosen't matter how great their record is this year, they could go 14-2 but it won't matter. They HAVE to win a playoff game

NYGiantsSBXLIICHAMPS...I must agree.
Its funny...everybody has them practically winning the Superbowl...try winning some playoff games first.
Um...wasnt 1996 the last time they won a playoff game?

Overall, I think I get where you're going, TP.

But are you talking about turnover ratio? Bad timing? Certain specific players that can't handle the pressure? A different coaching philosophy needed?

Saying that a team as whole needs 'mental discipline' is very vague.

Who needs to develop what skills in order for them to become the complete team that you are speaking of?
