When I first signed on to FN, one of the first people I began to notice here was J. Hova and his insightful pieces. In fact, my opinion of him changed dramatically the day after Virginia did a dismantling of Miami...the night the Orange Bowl closed.
That's when he wrote about the game...and reading it, I felt ashamed that UVA won. It really did come off as sort of an obituary for the Orange Bowl. And, I had newfound respect for the man.
Today, I have to return the favor.
Like most of you, I enjoyed reading the 40/40 Club blog. (And not just because I was afforded VIP status there...lol) I learned more about not just sports, but society in general, from reading Hova's pieces.
Sadly, it's come to an end. I've just read the final 40/40 blog. No fun, no frivolity...not even his usual shout-outs. His famed "third screen"?? Permanently faded to black...
When I ended my "True Media Stories" series (in FN Magazine), I did it because not enough people were reading it...and, because I was going through a bad time in my life. But this is something entirely different.
The fact is, Time Warner killed the 40/40 Club...because of the "new" FanNation. Too many people have fled since last Wednesday's "re-launch" of FN. And why?? Simple...we can't write/post/blog the way we used to.
KP Kahder once wrote a piece that led to a firestorm across FN. Maybe what you're reading right now isn't on that level; I could bleeping care less. But I DO care, when one of the absolutely phenomenal writers on here has to shut down his pride and joy...because of the ****-retentive thought patterns of the brass @ SI.com/CNN Interactive. (For the record, they're the overseers of FanNation. And I mean "overseer" in more ways than one...)
What has to die next?? Whose blog takes a permanent "dirt nap" on here?? Be afraid, fellow FNers...be very afraid.
There's an agenda here...and none of us are safe.
