PITCHER OF THE YEAR-West Michigan Whitecaps pitcher Jon Kibler has been named the Detroit Tigers Minor League Pitcher of the Year. Kibler was the best pitcher in the Midwest League during the 2008 campaign, leading in wins (14) and ERA (1.75). He was deadly defending his home turf, going 10-2 at home with a 1.46 ERA. Kibler threw two complete games this season and was nemed the MWL Pitcher of the Week twice and the Tigers Minor League Pitcher of the Month for May.

Kibler played his college baseball with Michigan State and was drafted in the 30th round of the 2007 draft. He ended the 2008 year with a 14-5 record and 126 strikeouts. His 1.75 ERA is second in Whitecaps history. This is the third straight season a 'Caps player has brought home this award. Duane Below won it in 2007 with Burke Badenhop getting the honor in 2006.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR-Former Whitecap Ryan Strieby was named the Detroit Tigers Player of the Year after a solid season with the Lakeland Flying Tigers. He hit .278 and lead the Florida State League with 29 home runs and 94 RBI's.
