4th quarter just continued the hurt for Arkansas. They get a score (against the 2nd-3rd team Bama defenders) and then get to watch Roy Upchurch go 67-yards for a quick 6.
Lots of subs for both sides in the 4th and it sort of dissolved into a scrimmage. 49-14 is the final.
Conclusion:
And impressive road win for the Tide. Arkansas showed some glimpses, but just too much youth and not enough quality young players. For all that Bama did good, the Hogs did bad.
Bama's offense looked good. Particulary the O-line as they opened some huge holes. Its no wonder the running backs had a big game (Bama had over 300 yards rushing)
JP Wilson did not have the best game of his career. But he did do enough NOT to lose. Played smart with the ball and gave them no turnovers. But when you are pounding out the rushing yards, who needs the pass?
Defense played well. Made some great plays. But had some coverage problems that we can't allow against Georgia. Also, not the best tackling performance. Again, has to be corrected before next week. However, the goal line stand was great and the D shows heart and hard hitting. The best thing to see is the gang tackling and everyone getting to the ball.
Overall, a solid performance. Sloppy at times, but the way they jumped all over Arkansas it is understandable to lose a little focus. Defense continues to look good. Running game just keeps getting better. In the SEC a great D and a strong running game wins you championships.
Next week the biggie. If Bama beats Georgia at Athens, then I see them getting into the top 5. But this IS the SEC so there are no "gimmies".
Damn, I can't wait for next week!!!!
