I wrote a blog back in July, about how the Jets should steer clear of Brett Favre. If you don't believe me your welcome to check back in my blogs and read it. Anyway, The point is this. This guy is undermining this team. And the worst thing is that it's not even his fault. Woody Johnson or Tannenbaum, or whoever wanted to win so bad that they grabbed the first star that became available. Poor Brett Favre who should have stayed retired, was sucked in, and now we see what happens when hasty decisions are on my beloved NY football team.
I said a few months ago that I don't see how you can take a QB like Pennington or Clemmons who have been in this offense for the past few years, and replace them with anyone and expect better results. Football is not like baseball or basketball, where a player can just change teams and be good to go in a month or two. Football is a balance of chemistry, and players knowledgeable in a system. Talent comes after knowledge, and desire to win. Brett Favre is/was talented. Chad Pennington had knowledge of the offense and the willpower to win games.
I think as the season goes on, Favre's level of climatizing to this offense, this city, will not change. Then this team will be stuck with the option of benching him for Kellen Clemmons, who've they've had all along, and giving GB a draft pick for what? If this trade had happened in the off season just after the season was over, I'm all for it. But 3 weeks before the season starts? That is insanity to believe you'd get a better product on the field with a 40 year old QB that doesn't know your offense.
The winner in all this? Not Brett Favre. Not the NY Jets. Definately not the fans. It's Chad Pennington. The guy who's been ridiculed by a bunch of idiots that don't know football, who will play in Miami with less expectations. I hope he extends his career, and makes the Pro Bowl while Favre crumbles. I hope Mangini, and owner Woody Johnson admit they made a mistake in trading away the real QB of NY at the end of this season.

Relax. Sure Favre is off to a dissapointing start, but you can't seriously say you would take Pennington over him. I guess you have a short memory, short enough to forget Chad's horrendous 07 season.
And trust me, NO ONE will be calling for Favre to be benched in favor of Kellen Clemens. Clemens truly is a terrible QB

I find it hard to blame a quarterback for a loss when he puts up 29 points with three throwing TDs. When you only have 37 yards rushing and allow 41 points against your defense. No QB will fix that.

If you watched that game, Favre was the reason they lost... he should've had 5 picks. He did all his damage in garbage time while San Diego was in the Prevent D... The reason they only had small rushing stats is because they came out throwing, which was a stupid decision. All week Jets fans have been asking for 35+ passes, when we all know Favre is an interception machine. Look at the Packers of '05 & '06... League leaders in Picks... Favre has only been solid when he had a compliment of Ryan Grant/Ahman Green/Dorsey Levens... He's the all time leader in picks!!! If you read www.thejetpress.com, they wrote before the season that releasing Pennington for Favre would cripple this offense!!! 100% right... Pennington had no O-line in '07 buddy, get a clue! Every year he's been healthy with a somewhat solid line, the Jets have been in the Playoffs. Unless Mangini can pull Favre in and turn him into an efficient QB that doesn't turn the ball over, the Jets season will be done and they'll give up a draft pick for this publicity stunt!

I don't think you're correct. I feel Favre and the Jets offense will begin to gel as the season wears on, especially with the schedule they have. It's highly possible that the Jets could win the next 2 home games and be 3 and 2 going into Oakland and then Playing KC at home, they could possibly be 5 and 2 when they go up to Buffalo on Nov. 2nd. That is going to be a more important game than these last 2 defeats. Defeats that I thought would happen.

Remember that Brett did not get Grant until mid season and GB had the worst running game in the league. Yet still had nearly the top offense. It is true that his team had better have a good o-line. He is not the best on his feet. He can be very slippery in the pocket but not his best if he has to run. Its no secret that I am a Favre fan but I understand what you get with him. The biggest problem you willl see is that if you are playing from behind and there is not a lot of talent around to throw to, things will get ugly. On the same note you will never question his heart or desire to win. Truthfully the Jets were going to loose Monday no matter who was under center. I think you are forgetting things like time of possesion, stupid on side kick follies, and a really good SD offense. I think people are expecting mirracles from this trade that are not realistic. I watch year after year the Lions expecting to win it all because of their 1 new super star receiver or new QB. It a good system that wins. Favre is not Super Man but he may inspire people to take on a winning attitude and give you some highlight reel plays. That is about it.
