OK, a team wins 3 Superbowls in 6 years, wins 21 straight regular season games, comes within a hair width of going undefeated through an entire season but loses the Super Bowl. Then wins its first two games without it's future hall of fame starting QB but finally loses and the fans boo the team!?!? Sure the game was a blowout and the D kept getting burned on the same trick play but do those Patriot fans have any sense of history? Do they remember the embarassing single win season or season(s), I don't remember how many they had at this moment. I just remember they stunk for a long long time with short moments of strength. Wow, appreciation runneth over in the north east USA. My god people (those that booed) you don't deserve a contending team.
I'm not surprised the Colts lost. Maybe with a bye week they can get healthy enough to start a good run. Doesn't help you to have 'A' grade players if they're injured on the bench. I truly don't know where they stand right now. I don't have the same sense of confidence, though, that I've had for several years running. This season has that deja vu of some previous seasons where too much was on Manning's shoulders... they usually ended up as a one and out performance in the playoffs.
The Chargers looks back on track until they lose another game and the fans and media want to fire everyone including the water boy. I'm not a Chargers fan but I heard an interview with Antonio Gates this week and liked his approach, hopefully someday he'll end upon a team I like better.
Other than the Cowboys what team stands out?? Not one in my opinion. All I know is a few teams look very very bad, namely the Chiefs, Lions, and Rams. The Raiders, Texans, Falcons, Bengals and Browns don't look much better. Cleveland and Cincy play this week so there will be one less team without a 'W' barring a tie.
The Broncos look to be on track to win the AFC West with their soft schedule. If they can advance in the playoffs will be another story. At this early point in the season the division with the best record is the NFC East, the worst record, AFC North and NFC north are tied.
The Steelers lost to the Eagles just in time to make a compelling showdown possible in Pittsburgh on Monday night against the Ravens. I'll be back later this week to talk about that and give some more predictions, Bones

Can't really say the Cheifs look bad...they almost beat the Pats, Brady or not, and were one turnover away from beating the Raiders. Look at how young they are on both sides of the ball and things arent too bad for them. Also, Falcons not very good?? Sure, if they had went like 8-8 last year you might be able to say that, but for a team that picked third in the draft and went 4-12, they are doing great. They are 2-1 and their two wins were blowouts.
Anyway, the thing that struck me most about your bloggyness is what has caught my eye with almost everything I'm hearing and reading so far: No love for the Titans. You didnt even mention them. Number one in defensive scoring(under 10 points allowed per game), number 3 in total defense and would be 1st if it werent for the freak Steve Slaton. Everyone is sleeping on the Titans...but just one thing to think about: For the rest of the season, their opponents have a combined record of 12-23 so far and the only teams they have left to play with winning record are Green Bay, Baltimore, and Pittsburgh. Titans are almost a certain 11 win team, assuming they have no set backs aka injuries.

In my mind the Chiefs, with (insert QB name here) at the helm of a ship with a 12 game losing streak, the Falcons ( who have played one good team IMO and lost), Detroit, Cincy and Oakland have all floundered and proven themselves against each other and lost to the better teams they've come up against. Atlanta had two wins against teams that I consider pathetic. I'm not saying they're worse than last year but I don't think the level of improvement makes them a 'good' team yet. Matt Ryan is obviously a step in the right direction but against Tampa he looked like a true rookie.
I agree with you about the Titans though. I guess I can't get my head around the success when #1 QB Young isn't out there and they're thriving with Collins. I've got ghost defeats in my mental standing chart and that isn't fair. True 2 of their wins came against 2 of the previously mentioned 'dark list' teams... Cincy and Houston - but at least the Titans were dominating. I've got to consider the victory over Jacksonville a quality win. In a season full of injuries and question marks they've remained solid through three weeks. I'll be interested to see how they fare against Baltimore and Green Bay, I don't know if Indy will be healthy (and fine tuned) enough to be a strong challenge for them by the time they meet.
Overall, I just feel a sense of 'wait and see' towards everyone but the Cowboys, and their D even looked suspect against the Eagles. ( And sadly I hate the Cowboys.) Something tells me week 9 or 10 will look a lot different but who knows. Such is the wonder of the NFL...
