It was the opening minute of overtime. Mike Cook drove to that basket, but instead of scoring, as he usually did in those situations, his left knee buckled and he fell hard to the floor.  He writhed howling in pain on the ground for several minutes before being carried to the locker room.  The diagnosis?  A torn anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and lateral meniscus tear.  His left knee destroyed, Cook underwent season-ending surgery two days after the game, little knowing that it would be the last time he stepped on a college basketball court -- for any team.

The 'boosters' must not have come through for him. NCAA politics, money, and intrigue.

I always liked Cook. It is really unfortunate. That team would have gone so much further with him, and this year he would have been such a great help.

You should send a letter to the NCAA.

Well... if you were to count all pre-season games as 1... doesnt that rule have to apply for both the "total games played by player" and the "total games played by the team" totals?? in other words, post season games should count as 1 for both the numerator and the denominator of the formula. How does the numbers shift then?

Alright. This seems to be the story... Syracuse played only 32 games(NCAA Tournament or National Invitation Tournament games do not count toward the regular season total). 30% of 32 games is 9.6, but again due to NCAA rules that would be rounded off to 10 games.... which explains Eric getting a Red-Shirt.
