I say it is a must -win game for several reasons.
1. They have their bye week next week. There is a huge difference in heading into the bye week at either 3-1, or 2-2. If they go into the BYE week 3-1, they will have a huge advantage on their division foes. They will have beaten Cleveland, and Baltimore (the two teams that could threaten for the division). Therefore, they will already be a leg up in the playoff race, and as we found out in 2005, every little thing counts.
2. The game is in Pittsburgh. They can't lose at home on Monday Night Football, and expect to still be the division favorites. They are the best team, no doubt, however, the Ravens have been a surprising early season team. They look like a bit of a threat at this point. They slaughtered the Ravens on MNF last year at home on Alumni night, and we hope to continue that this year. It will be hard to go into Baltimore late in the season-especially if the Ravens are in contention- and grab a win, so it is that much more necessary to get a win on Monday.
3. They have played like a car with a restrictor plate on lately. It seems they have been holding back. Their defense has been stellar this year, allowing just over 30 points in 3 games! However, that achilles hele is coming back to bite them again. They abandon the run. They abandoned it in the Philly game, and a bit early on in the Browns game! They need to stick to their guns and run the ball! Ben can't drop back 35+ times a game, and expect to win 10 games. That's not the Steeler football we have come to adore. They need to wake up from their offensive sleep if they want to win 10 games this year.
I will leave you with this.
The Steelers haven't lost a Monday night home game in 16 years, going 11-0 since losing to the Giants 23-20 on Oct. 14, 1991.
