I work in a building with a lot of men, and they love to talk about football. It's also very well known that I am an avid Redskins fan (What - did the blanket, #21 towel, Redskins tissue box, and parking pass from Dallas/Washington show down hanging in my cube give that away??) All I heard last week was that Washington was going to face a for sure slaughter on Sunday.
Washington fans often get made fun of for ALWAYS thinking they will (or, at least, can) go to go to the Super Bowl. First of all, I've figured out why we do this: Washington is notorious for winning games that they have no business winning, and losing games they have no business losing. "Any given Sunday" has never been more true for any other team. Therefore, we always think we've got a chance. There is never a match-up that i don't think we can win, including the formidable Dallas Cowboys, in Dallas. I was laughed at incessantly for five days because I staunchly maintained that it was going to be a very close game, and that Washington had the ability to pull out a win. Well, friends and neighbors - look what happened - a two point spread (versus the 11 that everyone predicted), and a Washington vic.
A lot of sports writers began the season by essentially writing Washington off. They felt that because NY, Philly, and Dallas looked so strong, that Washington would just fall to the wayside and drift off into the background. Not so, very much not so. Washington spent yesterday afternoon proving to all of the skeptics that they are exactly where they belong - in the toughest division in the league.
HAIL!

Redskins will be one of the best teams in the NFC but I don't think they will place third in their division.
