In case you haven't heard, Richard Collier, 26 Offensive tackle for the Jacksonville Jaguars is paralyzed from the waist down and will never walk again, after being shot earlier this month. His spinal cord was severed. His left leg was amputated due to blood clots. His overall condition is greatly improved and could be release soon. For the entire story:

WOW. I'd heard about the shooting but hadn't followed up the story after that.
An amputation? That's awful - I guess on a bright note, he could have just as easily have been killed so he's fortunate to have a long life ahead of him.

A long life of what? Being locked in a wheelchair when he should be locking horns with d-linemen? Having a care giver for a companion when he should be having a Jag cheerleader? Having to make it on SSI instead of those NFL paychecks? And you think he's "fortunate"? Even the real Yoda (so to speak) wouldn't be THAT stupid!
