Let's see if I got this straight. After the game yesterday--in which the Nats basically quit to ensure a 59-102 record--the coaching staff got their walking papers, except one.

Why is the "Mary Tyler Moore" show theme running through my head right now?? Because, just like that classic sitcom, the wrong people lost their job(s). You remember how it ended, right?? Everybody got fired by the new management...everyone, that is, except Ted Baxter!!!

And now I'll tell you why Randy St. Claire, who still has his job as the Nats' pitching coach, is the modern-day Ted Baxter.

I understand heads had to roll as a result of this debacle known as the 2008 Nationals season. But, to fire Lenny Harris?? Who may be responsible for Cristian Guzman finishing 5th in NL hitting?? Or even Pat Corrales, the bench coach?? Those two I can't see being fired.

If anybody should've been made to walk the plank, by all means it should've been St. Claire. This pitching staff was a flat-out farce, save for one or two people. But oh no, he keeps HIS job.

I should thank Frank H. for writing about this last night. At the time, I didn't know what he was talking about; now I know.

"There's a box (of Kleenex) on Mary's desk"--I don't need Kleenex, I need a shotgun in my mouth so I can pull the trigger!!! Oy, vey...

Must be slipping under the radar, I guess...or else everybody's focused on the postseason.
Just wondering WHY no one wants to comment.

... and what of Manny Acta? The next whole troupe of coaches that come in will look back at what happened at the end of 2008 and say either Manny didn't support his staff so won't trust him, or see that he got over-ruled by higher up in the chain and realize he has no authority.

They cut Manny's legs off. Come to think of it, it's kind of similar to what Jim Bowden did to Chad Cordero. You don't suppose Bowden is the one responsible for buggering Manny also ...
