Welcome to the NFL Rashard Mendenhall.... When you heard last weekend that Willie Parker was definately out for your Monday night football matchup against the Ravens I bet you were jacked. I mean who wouldn't be? First career start, Monday Night Football...... At home? Perfect. I bet you saw this as a great oppourtunity to show Steeler fans who they drafted in the first round. I bet this last week was one of the most exiting, most promising weeks of your life... but you let the excitement get to you. Let me ask you a question.... who in their right mind writes a god damn text message to the Baltimore Ravens and tells them you are planning on having a great game Monday night? You didn't text the Indianapolis Colts defense who by the way couldn't stop a running play if they were told it was coming and told where it was going.... you text the Ravens D. In case you have been wrapped up in college football for the last few years and you haven't been watching every sunday like I have.... the Ravens have one of the most talented and feared defenses in the league. The ravens have Ed Reed at safety..... one of the best in the league....one of the best we have seen in a long time. And who could forget Ray Lewis. Ray Lewis is the stuff nightmares are made of. Pretty sure this guy eats puppies.... maybe even toddlers when he is hungry. He is an ANIMAL. The ravens do everything well on defense (go back and check out the tape from the first half if you are having trouble remembering today). This brings me to my point. Call it a rookie mistake..... but in my opinion what you did was worse than the stunt Deshawn Jackson the Eagles rookie pulled in the Monday nighter a few weeks ago. You pissed off the best defense in the league this year.... and arguably the best defense in the league for about the last decade. The last thing in the world you want is your face posted on their bulletin board.... its comparable to having the mafia put a hit on you. I hope Ray Lewis taught you a lesson about keeping your mouth shut. He landed a devastating hit on you early in the 3rd quarter and surprise surprise he injured you. Now you might be the only one that didn't see this coming but I have common sense and about 14 different camera angles to watch.... I saw this hit coming last tuesday. Lesson learned: Ray Lewis f *cks up cocky rookies... simple as that. Have fun icing that fractured shoulder.... see you next year.
