Monday Night Football's over and done til next week, but the weekend football games are still a few days away from kick-off. What's a girl (or guy) to do? Catch up on your college football and get ready for the next round with the Wednesday Weekly report, always featuring the best quotes from last week's coverage.

No offense to the scheduling gods, but I'm much less excited about this weekend's slate of games. Kentucky - Alabama just doesn't get me going the way Alabama - Georgia did.

Oh by the way, I picked ‘Bama to win last week; take the risk, get the reward, I guess. I thought it would be a lot closer than it was. As the commentator said: "It was supposed to be a blackout but it turned into a public mugging." What was it the Tide was saying about black being a funereal color?

Quotes of Note:

  • On Rennie Curran: "He was wearing a long-sleeve shirt yesterday and it looked like he was carrying car parts in it."
  • On the left side of the Alabama O-line: "The guys on that side are really horses." No, really.

One game that should be pretty exciting is the Ohio State - Wisconsin battle in the Big Ten. Or not. Terrelle Pryor turns the Buckeyes into an entirely different, more dynamic team (although I do feel bad for Boeckman) and the Badgers last week were anything but dynamic. In all honesty, I don't think I've seen any intensity from them in the last two seasons, yet somehow they always manage to hang around. Michigan winning last week's game was one I didn't see coming. USC losing to Oregon State? Yeah. Anyone paying attention knows the Beavers give USC fits. Florida losing to Ole Miss? News flash: The Rebs are better than they've been in a few years. Not so surprising. But Michigan over Wisconsin really threw me for a loop.

So this week, we have what before the season might've been a majorly hyped match-up but let's get real here. The Buckeyes are going to run all over them. That's right, you heard it here.

Quotes of Note:

  • On Bret Bielema and Rich Rodriguez: "Two guys who are coaching their temples out in this Big Ten opener." Their temples. Now that's intense.
  • On Allan Evridge's overthrown/failed two point conversion: "He threw it too high because he had to get it over those two blue fence posts, the Michigan defenders." Fence posts, horses, we get it, football players are large.

Who would've thought this week's Auburn - Vanderbilt game could potentially pack a bigger punch than last week's Auburn - Tennessee? Untraditional, but true. Vandy's quickly overtaking UT in the SEC and could very possibly run right over Auburn on Saturday. Then again, Auburn's defense is the best thing the team has going for it, so maybe "running right over them" is a bit too dramatic.

Quotes of Note:

  • When a Tennessee defender pushed Tiger QB Chris Todd out of bounds with five minutes left in the 3rd quarter: "I think if he hadn't launched himself, it would've been ok. If he'd just shoved him it would've gone unnoticed, but when you launch yourself, especially when it's the quarterback, you're going to get flagged."

The one game I'm really super duper one thousand per cent looking forward to is Maryland at Virginia. And it's the one game not televised. I would be really sad if Virginia had actually showed up to any of their games this year. I'm not going to jinx it by making a claim similar to the one I made about USC last week, but if this one's close, me and my cable company are gonna fight.

Last week's Maryland-Clemson game was the highlight of my week, and only partly because the Terps were one of the few teams I picked to win that didn't let me down. Even more enjoyable was the always-entertaining commentary provided by Rick Walker of RayCom Sports. Here, I give you the Walker Wrap-Up.

  • "Give Grisham a cheeseburger because he knows where to go." (Walker, it seems, has a thing for beef patties with cheese. And milkshakes.)
  • On a failed 4th down conversion: "He knows if he twists the head anymore, flags'll be thrown." (He said it so many times, emphasizing "the head" like it wasn't attached to anyone's body.)
  • "You've been feeding those seniors at Maryland for four years, now you need them to give you a drive."
  • Jeremy Navarre, apparently, has been getting special meal treatment: "He eats weights. He eats ‘em. He digests metal."
  • Eating metal? Ok, but #33 Alex Wujciak can do one better: "He has some Doberman in his blood."
  • "If Maryland gets a big play here, Clemson's gonna have acid indigestion at halftime"
  • With 3:30 in the game, up three points: "If you're Maryland, you're playing on house money now, and you know that."
  • "You go out and ask me to block a man twice my size, I gotta love you. That's a love block right there."

And until next week, parting wisdom from Mr. Walker: "When in doubt, go to the high-IQ guy."
