Last week: 5-8

Overall:  26-32-1

5 star picks: 1-3

The lines I'm using are from here

home teams in caps

wrongPHILADELPHIA (-6) over Washington

Final: Washington 23, Philadelphia 17

The Eagles out played the Bears, but lost because Desean Jackson's mistakes, David Akers uncharcteristically missing field goals, and a failure to score at the goal line.  I think they beat Washington by at least a touchdown.

rightCAROLINA (-6.5) over Kansas City

Final: Caroliona 34, Kansas City 0

If Kansas City can't run the ball, they can't score.  The Panthers have done a pretty good job of containing talented runners so far this season.  I think they hold the Chiefs to about 13 points and score at least 24 here.

right5 star pick: Chicago (-3.5) over DETROIT

Final: Chicago 34, Detroit 7

This line makes no sense to me.  Detroit has looked atrocious so far this season.  They lost to Atlanta by 13, to Green Bay by 23, and to San Francisco by 18.  Chicago, on the other hand, has looked pretty good.  They have beaten two teams that expect to go to the playoffs, the Eagles and Colts.  I expect Chicago's D to shut down the Lions and for the offense to score at least 24 here.

The Green Bay-Atlanta game is off the board

pushTennessee (-3) over BALTIMORE

Final: Tennessee 13, Baltimore 10

I think Tennessee will win this game pretty easily.  They're both great defensively, but the Titans are better offensively.  The reason for this is Chris Johnson, who looks like a potenital superstar.  I see him being the difference here as the Titans win by a touchdown.

wrongSan Diego (-6.5) over MIAMI

Final: Miami 17, San Diego 10

I think Miami's win over New England was anomalous.  If they try any of those plays again, San Diego will be prepared.  I expect this game to be like the Chargers' game against the Jets.  I predict that Phillip Rivers will have a MONSTER day and San Diego will win by two touchdowns.

wrongHOUSTON (+3) over Indianapolis

Final: Indianapolis 31, Houston 27

I think this is going to be a very close high scoring game.  Without Bob Sanders, the Colts are in capable of stopping the run.  I think Steve Slaton has a big day, I predict 150 yards.  Like I said this will be a very close game and I'm 50-50 on who will win, so I'll take the Texans with the points.

rightNEW YORK GIANTS (-7) over Seattle

Final: New York Giants 44, Seattle 6

I think the Giants are being a little overrated at the moment.  However, the Seahawks play poorly on the road.  Matt Hasselback has really struggled this year and he'll have to be on the top of his game if the Seahawks want to win this one.  I think the Giants win it by 10.

pushDENVER (-3) over Tampa Bay

Final: Denver 16, Tampa Bay 13

Tampa Bay has a pretty good defense, but they're ranked 21st against the pass.  Look for the Broncos to throw the ball early and often.  I think this will be a pretty close game, but the Broncos win by more than 3 and less than 10.

wrongBuffalo (+1) over ARIZONA

Final: Arizona 41, Buffalo 17

The Bills aren't great, but they find a way to win.  I don't think the Cardinals have much of a chance in the game and Boldin being out certainly doesn't help.  I think the Bills win a close one.

wrongDALLAS (-17) over Cincinnati

Final: Dallas 31, Cincinnati 22

This is shaping up to be a blowout.  Palmer is injured and might not play.  Even when he has played the offense hasn't done much.  Their defense is atrocious and look for Romo to try to get on TO's good side by getting him the ball A LOT.  Dallas dominates.

wrongSAN FRANCISCO (+3) over New England

Final: New England 30, San Francisco 21

I think San Francisco pulls the minor upset here.  Cassel can't throw th ball deep and San Francisco should capitalize on that.  J.T. O'Sullivan has looked solid and Frank Gore is looking like a superstar again.  I say the 49ers win outright.

JACKSONVILLE (-4) over Pittsburgh

With both Willie Parker and Rashard Mendenhall out for this game, Big Ben will have to do it pretty much by himself on offense.  Without the running threat, the Jags will be able to pin back their ears and just come after Roethlisberger.  With the Steelers' offensive line, Big Ben should be in for a rough day.  The Jags winn this by a touchdown.

NEW ORLEANS (-3) over Minnesota

The Vikings still aren't good against the pass and the Saints can still throw the ball.  Look for a breakout game from Robert Meachem.  The Saints win it by a touchdown.

Look upon my picks, ye mighty, and despair!

October 2, 2008  06:24 PM ET

WOOOOOOOO, Pitt says Rivers will have a monster game. I say that every week...... and finally someone agrees with me!

October 2, 2008  09:40 PM ET

I bet on 5 of these games, my bets were
Washington+6
Chicago-3.5
Indy-3.5
SD-3.5
Jax-4

Your dead on about the Bear Lion line, I have NO idea why Detroit is only 3.5 point dogs?

October 2, 2008  09:40 PM ET

Oops, meant SD-6.5

October 3, 2008  01:07 AM ET

I think Indy, Tampa Bay, NE, and Arizona pull it out.
Obviously 'Zona's my upset pick o' the week and I'd never put cash on it, but I'm thinking it's gonna happen.

Gotta love the 5-star pick this week.
I have to put quadruple cash on it now to cover those 3 5-star picks that didn't materialize.

October 5, 2008  07:52 PM ET

Current record: 3-6-2

You have a terrible record Pitt.
