There are rumors out there that the 49'ers are interested in making a deal for Roy Williams of Detroit or T.J. Houshmanzadeh of Cincinnatti. What I would like to know is why Jerry Angelo of the Bears is not in consideration for the services of these receiving studs? With the Bears moving the ball now and the offense being an asset versus a problem, this should be the time to get a major contributor from a team that is going nowhere. As much as it will take for the Bears to sign this player long term, it is worth it to have a player like that on this team. It has been a while since there was an offensive star on this team. While Forte is making a case for that, the Bears front office should be curious of how to maximize what is happening to this team this year and possibly the next.
Either guy will make an impact immediately and it will give this offense some credibility for a long while. As difficult as the season seems to be in the next couple of months a move for a high caliber player like Williams or Houshmanzadeh should be explored. The organization was willing to give big bucks to proven defensive players, what about doing that now to someone on offense.
Here is hoping that the Bears do something before the deadline next week. Either way go Bears.

Sorry man, but there is no way that the Lions are trading Roy Williams to the Bears. Or the Packers or Vikings, for that matter. It just isn't done. They'll go out of the conference if they can, but out of the division certainly. Maybe if Crazy Matt hadn't gotten axed, but for an interim GM who's got 2/3rds of a season to give the Fords a reason to let him keep his job to trade their only star player to a division rival that they play twice a year would be career suicide.
